Hi,

Any views on a first track day on a bike? I've done a couple of Palmer days in the cars and an open track day in a (hired) Caterham with instructor but haven't had the courage to take my own bike on one. Do you think its wise to go on some kind instructed day first time out or is it sufficient to just go out and take it easy? I ride and commute on a blade and have ridden for seven years (but only > 800cc for last three years).

Cheers

Just treat it like road riding without speed limits and without oncoming traffic. Nobody expects you to lap in sub-Rossi times and it's not a race. Just go as quick as you feel comfortable with and don't chase anyone.

You'll be fine, just take it easy for the first couple of sessions, learn the track, learn how other riders ride on track and what the etiquette is. Warm the tyres up for 3 laps each session . . . keep it really smooth and make the bike flow . . . it'll then be great ! smile

And as said above, ride your own pace, it's not a race, let the knobs race off and end their day early, you've got all day ! You'll probably be be surprised that you're not one of the slowest smile
