The "how to pull wheelies..." vids were hysterical.
Clips of particular note....

- going to scooter rental in Greece. "We're from Fast Bikes in London. Have you heard of us?" "No" "Great, we'd like to hire some scooters". Next clip of scooters being ridden off jetty into the sea.
- "shooting" people with killswitch backfires. Awesomely childish. "You going to be doing that for long, only the wife is ill" "About five minutes" "OK". And riding into the side of a car while "shooting that suit". rofl
- monster crash in a tunnel on autoroute. Shakey? goes barrelling into a tunnel, dark visor, helmet cam "Fackin' 'ell, it's dark in here" CRASH!?!?"
- getting bked off ferry captain for doing rolling burnout down the car deck.

fking awesome! biggrin

Ah, backfire shooting people, loved doing that on my old SRAD 600!

I think I got the GSXR in 2001 as my first 'big bike'.

I remember getting about 9 months of mad experiences with much more experienced riders before the law change attitudes (quiet rightly!) and it all started to change.

Like a fellow poster said, ride like that these days and death or prison await!

I'm now going to have to source a VHS player and dig my old vids out!

I used to love the fast bikes vids, and getting the mag from the shop, dashing home to stick the vid on with my mate, was real exciting! They were proper mental, there's no way theyd be able to do it now, all the pc crap and professionally offended, would have the cops on them like a ton of bricks.

Which was the one in spain or Portugal with the cops who didn't speak good English, where they were all gesticulating about their documents whilst saying stuff like, yes, we go back to yours and fxxk your mother..? yes..? and the cops are all smiling and nodding! hahahahaha. childish as anything, but funny as!!

It is true, riding road bikes in the mid to late 90's was the business. so much more fun and larking about than there is now. We had a bike night localish to us 4 midweek nights a week, and hundreds of people turned up at them to arse about doing wheelies. Great days!

Doesn't look like fast riding has stopped if you browse YouTube. Why'd you think it has? The FastBike crew were pioneers, it's not changed that much, need to know where to look.

Sean Emmett was in the mag when I was a young impressionable wannabe, was he in some of the vids too or was he too 'pro' by the time they came out?

(and what happened about that whole thing in Dubai?)
He's in either Pulp Friction 1 or 2. Pretty sure Jimmy high sides a 916 trying to keep up with him along a coast road.

Dubai thing got sorted, didn't it? Last I heard,he was back in the UK.

Ironically, Performance bikes were the tamer mag in the 90s yet more of their testers have unfortunately met their maker (Gus Scott, Ronnie).

I loved them back in the day and used to wish I was as talented, stunting around and messing about. Had all their vids on VHS.

More vids - on line you say?

996R vs SB8R - worth putting up with the quality for the crash at the end smile

I loved these videos when I was a teenager and would watch them on loop. I'd try and copy the riding but luckily I only had a 33bhp GS500 smile

Has anyone found the second PB video that they put out? I haven't seen that for years and would love to watch it again.
