This morning on the M25 I could see:
Cats eyes.
Red lights.

It was bad this morning, wasn’t it? Why do idiots in cars insist on putting fog lights (front and rear) on in such conditions? All I can see when confronted with fog lights is pretty diffraction patterns as the light hits the water droplets on my visor.

Really terrible. I just kept a huge gap in front of me and held the throttle flat for the whole run, and was ok. Coming towards Henley someone was tail gating me, and was 'surprised' when on the first corner when I put my brakes on, they nearly hit me.

They had the cheek to honk their horn! I shrugged at them and twisted the throttle and they seemed to sod off after that.

because visibility was well below 100m due to heavy road spray:

This morning can be described as nothing but grim!
Particularly the bit where the traffic builds up, I have to slow down and the water starts to run down my arms and into my gloves! Anyone got any tips on how to stop this??

But, when you’re in a line of traffic, the car in front knows you’re there and the car behind knows you’re there so turn the damn things off.

Also, I would argue that visibility is less than 100m. It may be for the 3m around a truck that’s producing the spray but beyond that, visibility this morning was around 1km.

Visibility was absolutely fine this morning, once I opened my visor! Fog lights are not supposed to be used in rain, just like full beam isn't.

yep, booked my Eurotunnel ticket yesterday for 30th April. We're doing a long weekend tour of the Eifel region in Germany then down to Munich where I'll leave my bike for a few other tours later in the year. One will be the BMW festival in Garmisch (only an hour away). At the end of that weekend we'll be riding to the Pyrenees through Austria, Switzerland, France then Spain. We might end up getting the overnight Autozug (motorrail) train back to Germany since we've only got 9-10 days to do the whole trip.

Fogs should be used in reduced visibility whether that's fog, heavy spray or whatever when your normal rear lights will be pretty much obscured smile

Yes it was v wet, nothing out of the ordinary for us year round riders once in a while. I far prefer heavy rain to snow/ice/salt conditions. 9th year anniversary of starting year round commuting in London this month for me BTW.
