Not being funny, but if you survived being in one of those, well, i guess nothing life can throw at you would get you down. provides a bit of perspective i guess.
Just look at the Bomber Command attrition rates. Makes horrific reading, in fact they had (i think) the highest casualty/death rate of any service.
A different breed.
Something like 50% losses I think it was & an average life expectancy from posting to a squadron of about 6 missions.

So the Rad is in the seat unit?!!

I thought they were used for keeping the 1980's Sinclair ZX Spectrum motherboard cool for the engine management. biggrin

Knew a guy years ago who had a Manx Norton one side of his fireplace, and a bevel Ducati 750 Sport the other... and a son named Scott Norton X. The bikes were both black with polished alloy tanks, and very clean and shiny thanks to his wife - I think she figured if they had to be in the living room they'd better look good. smile

Today is an abject lesson as to why I shouldn't be allowed to wander into bike/car dealers when I'm bored. Started browsing, ended up going for a test ride and have just put a deposit on something that looks v similar to this except with regular mirrors, exhaust and a fly screen:

Street Triple R in Crystal White, should take delivery in a week or so smile First new motor vehicle I've ever bought, v chuffed biggrin Think I got a pretty good deal as well, by my reckoning I've saved about £1k on the package they've offered compared to what it would have cost
Woohoo! I took delivery of my STR on Friday biggrin Already managed 260 miles on it as of this morning smile Obligatory pics:

It doesn't look like it, but I am smiling in that last pic biggrin

Thoughts so far? Loving the low end torque compared to the I4 I had before, makes town riding a lot easier. Seat is not quite as comfy, and I ended up with a bit of a sore bum yesterday after all day on the bike. But I did have my gf on the back so had tweaked the suspension making it harder which may not have helped comfort.

Only frustrating thing so far is that I'm limited to 5k rpm until 300 miles (58mph, not good on M-way), 6k until 500, 7k until 700 etc etc. Bit of a faff! Anyway, I need to get the next 250 miles done in the next week as it needs it's first running in service before I do a road trip to Germany with a mate in 10 days time.

Final thanks to Metropolis Motorcycles in Vauxhall, specifically Ekassane, who managed to expedite getting the bike ready for me to pick up so I could have it this weekend smile

Hi Mario,

The bike looks fantastic, i didnt realise you bought it at Metropolis. I wasnt working Friday so didnt see you pick it up.
Ekassane will be happy to hear that you are pleased with the bike and ill be sure to let him know.
Your backside will get used to the seat pretty quick i would have thought.

Dan.
