Cheers - Panigale and RC8R not booked yet (should be next week) and had to cancel this afternoon on the R1 unfortunately.

I'm going to do one when I've tried the others as I find comparisons more interesting than a "I went on a Blade and it was f king fast" type review

John Laverick said: It's the way forward isn't it?! We took it from Alesssndria to Dusseldorf in 2011. It allows you to explore much deeper into Europe without the mega long distances to get back tup North. My ZX6 on the train: Gotta laugh at the Adventure Tourers on there! All that ground clearance so you can ride up a train ramp.

The train allows you to be on the bike as long as possible in interesting places and on interesting roads rather than slogging it through the boring bits of Europe.
You do realise it's an overnight train don't you? You get on it in the evening and arrive at your destination the next morning.
It is BY FAR the best way to do Europe ... just as the Plymouth / Santander ferry is BY FAR the best way to do Spain/Portugal. I have to agree with all of the above. If you want to do the Alps/Eastern Europe, use the train to cut out the motorway monotony of France or Germany. Sounds pretty smart to me. I'd love to ride the Great Ocean Road in Victoria but there's no way I'm riding 2.000 Km of straight road to get there

Andy XRV said: What do you pay per bike for an overnight from say Alesssndria and Dusseldorf? Off the top of my head I think we paid about £250 each; which initially sounds expensive. But when you consider it saves you one/two nights accommodation, probably £100 in fuel and the associated tyre wear it starts to make sense.

Ok, putting it like that I can see your point if you're limited for time on your tour. Personally I prefer to ride the whole trip, it just feels more real/proper for want of a better word. After doing the slog, it makes it feel even more special after spending a while on the motorway when you get to the good bits IMO.

On our last euro trip I would have given anything for a Teleporter between Reims & Calis - I've got no love for that part of France

RemaL said: Nice Spareparts Oh, and just rode her back. Dropped the forks 0.25", reset everything front and back including ride height, replaced oil with lighter 5wt oil and... WOW! The front is working sooo much better and the ride has been transformed. Feedback has been cranked up, the sussers actually work now, and all those niggly sharp bits on the road have just been ironed flat. Turn in is far better too. Steve Jordan, you are a legend Can't wait to get her on track

We paid about 130 Euro each when splitting the cabin between the four of us. We traded one very long, boring and potentially soggy day on the motorway for an extra day on the mountain passes down South, and saved a few quid in the process. Passing through the Alps on the train is an experience in itself.

Turns out that a long wheelbase Transit really isn't big enough for my needs, started out like this: (all take note of the totally Heath Robinson approach to strapping the bikes in). Now looks like this: The bikes are still in there, somewhere...

Modern bikes are huge! We got four bikes in the back of a LWB Transit when we went to Ireland. Took a bit of working out which tie went to which bike though

In France I found that going on the D roads and N roads made the trip far better than motorways. The only place from Cambridge to Bordeaux that I got really fed up with was the M11, as the UK has no D road equivalent. It's a bit s te when it's rainy and cold but still the D roads make it a great trip, seriously nice to cruise.
