Interesting footpeg layout. Good for speed but would affect handling I think. On the whole, I approve!

What series is that Podders?
A friend was mentioning watching some of this kind of thing next year...wondered if it's what he was on about (CMRC I think he said).
There's CRMC (Classic Racing Motorcycle Club) which is what Podman went to. Typically sixties and later stuff up to the eighties/early nineties now.

There's also the VMCC (Vintage Motorcycle Club) Racing Section, which is the older stuff, the earliest class being for pre-war bikes and generally going into the late fifties, early sixties. Although the VMCC have invitation classes too - at Cadwell the other day there was a class for seventies bikes like Laverdas smile

There used to be loads of other clubs, Forgotten Era, New era and stuff. Not sure if they're still about though?

I remember New Era with fondness rose-tinted specs...sitting on the windswept stand at Snetterton on my 6th pint of Directors in the latter half of the 80's on a Sunday afternoon. Especially the 'unlimited' class...TZ250/350's running with the odd Z1300 and a few early sporty 750's. 6 laps I think they did then...pre-chicane days too.
One of the last races I watched there was where someone had brought one of those new FZ1000's along...it must've been at least half a lap ahead of the rest of the field by the end of the race...such was the speed difference!

<puts glasses back in case>

Hopefully I'll make a few CMRC meets next year...

Your spot on mate

http://www.crmc.co.uk/

The main reason I went was due to the blub in Practical Sportsbike magazine and to meet the LC club members, I wanted to watch the mid 80's stuff mainly, not often you see a FZ600 battling with a FJ1100...I thought(hoped) some slab sided GSXR750's may be present but they are banned...for obvious reasons I guess.

Knockhill, the old BMW fell over and took a few bikes will it
How come the BMW fell over when it was on it's center stand?
Over balanced? hehe

Wind or pushed I'd say.
The stands on those old BMWs wear so that, after time, the bike sits lower and lower on the stand until eventually there is weight being taken on both wheels. At that point, it doesn’t take much wind to blow the bike over.

@moan: if you buy, you won't be disappointed. Just check with Triumph to see if it's had it's recalls done (RR and something with the fuel pump). If not, they can still be done FoC at a dealer.

@djt77: that is stunning cloud9 I really like the newer Bimotas, shame they're so bloody expensive frown

Got to admire that ^. But I always wonder, how much of it is new replacement parts or re-furbished/restored by you. ?

Either way looks good.

In this case I have extensively used third party specialists and NOS parts where available. The completed bike will be worth quite a bit so I don't mind investing a few quid. Third party work includes chroming, resprayed bodywork, blasting and powder coating, rebuilding wheels with new spokes and rims, rebuilt crank (needs a 50 ton press), restored clocks and switches......

All in it will have cost me 10 grand by the time it's finished.

Clearly this will not make me money but that's not why I'm doing it. Hopefully it will be something that I can take pride in, enjoy riding (it will be used, it's not going to be a show bike), and it should be near as damn it, a good as new bike.

Respect to people who can do all of this with a couple of rattle cans and a lot of skill but I'm afraid I'm not one of them.

That's a thing of beauty!

I've always loved the detailing on Bimotas, are you getting another one the same?
