During lunch I was driving from one site to another, I filtered past a couple of cars in traffic then I came behind a FTO and it was like showing a red rag to a bull and he proceeded to boot it generally driving like a tit, overtaking on solid lines etc. Hand on heart I was just taking it easy the road was wet and it was drizzling a bit, I’ve had this once or twice recently usually chavs in barry’d saxo’s etc but not to this extent. TOOL.

Time and a place. I had loads of good tussles with bikes in my Skyline, and not the 'caught them off guard when they weren't interested' type.
I've also had loads of good tussles with various cars whilst out on the bike.

Then again, I've also had morons on bikes try it on when I've been in the car, morons on bikes try it on when I've been on the bike, morons in cars try it on when I've been on the bike, and some good spirited rides with fellow bikers when i've been out on the bike.

What does this tell us? Absolutely nothing really.

Steady away thanks mate, busier than I'd like to be at this time of year but all's well. How's yourself? DIY season in full swing yet?

Yep, re-plastering the living room, no carpet or furniture, just the TV and a lap top for company.

You getting out much on the off road bike?

Funny how when Autocar do a car vs bike thing the car wins- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Man0X0bf8vk&fea... (and that's around Cadwell that should suit a bike)yet I'm sure a few bike mags have done it with reverse results.

Still inconclusive methinks-depends on road/rider/bike & set up & conditions.

Hmm.... be more interesting if they sent the car out to do a flying lap and then a bike out to do a flying lap...

All the bike vs car comparisons I've seen have been on tracks, I know there's a fair few track enthusiasts here but I bet most of them still spend more time on the road than the track. I'm quite willing to accept that my <£1000 bike isn't as quick round a track as a >£50,000 track prepped car, but I still bet I can beat the car round the M25 at 5 o'clock on a Friday afternoon biggrin

It certainly is a wake up call when you are riding what you previously thought was a fast bike only to have a car come along and totally humiliate you.

Ever since that fateful night I always give Toyota Supra Turbos a very wide berth. frown

I had a great 'race' with a Porcshe 911 on my favourite bit of road near York (Stamford Bridge to Norton wink) few years back, i couldn't pass him, he couldn't shake me either, after about 8 miles he pulled over and let me pass. We gave each other a wave and went on our way. Great fun biggrin

I much prefer the kids on the 50cc's that really genuinely believe they can smoke you from junctions rofl So funny. Same kids that think they would be faster than Rossi on their favourite road on the same bike rolleyes lol...

biggrin

had the same a couple of summers ago with a fat bodied 911, pulled alongside the driver and gave him the wave forward" lets go" gesture..gassed it....and had a 911 a few yards away from the back of my Hayabusa for several miles at approaching an indicated 200MPH in places,EVERY overtaking move I made, he followed, it was a nightmare!

I dropped back at one point to check out its accleration and the bike was only marginally quicker, a friend who was with me and on a GSXR1000 K3 was gobsmacked as well...we parted with car and driver with a friendly wave, big smiles all round and a new found respect in 911's..

I am always amazed at the (over) reactions of bikers when they get passed. I drive all sorts of cars every week, some very slow, some very quick; & I am always aware of bikers and will move in to give them room to go past me ( I started out on bikes).

I find it usually happens approaching and through a roundabout, eg I am making my usual progress, aware of all around me, minding my own business (just slightly quicker than others).

However after passing the bike(S) in and through the roundabout you then get mr angry from suzuki who somehow thinks he owns the road and the fact some sty hatchback (eg a crappy Ka) has just shown him how to read the road ahead and make progress accordingly, then results in much demonstration and pointless reaction.

No, I wasnt taking a bike on, I was just driving at my usual speed, aware of all around me, and once again surprised by the lack of road craft displayed by today's bikers which matched with their aggresiveness (arrogance?) is a very poor show on our crowded roads (with car drivers who in general are not aware of whats around them).

Bike drivers; use your mirrors and get out of the way if someone has caught up on you, its not rocket science - you are in the way now move over!

Tis true some bikers do wobble there way round bends and roundabouts, had a Clio 182 many moons ago and remember being slowed to a near stop following an R6 at a roundabout (mainly new riders), but your last comment about checking mirrors should be aimed at car drivers, especially in this country. I ve last count of the amount of times i ve had to undertake or full beam a car to make progress.
