I wish people would stop comparing race rep superbikes with big comfy supercars. It's not a fair comparison. The car equivalent of an R1 is a road legal Radical, which would blow an R1 into the weeds (yes, I've checked the lap times and it's about 6 seconds per minute, which is the difference between my old racing Metro and my racing Caterham...).
I disagree...road car vs road bike tongue out all sounds fair to me
ok. Based on that I nominate a Honda Goldwing vs a Ferrari F40 hehe
No problemo...

No contest, a wrecked '03 Pan is worth more than a wrecked '03 Clito. So say my insurers anyway.

Jackal trying to troll.

coffee

tumbleweed

Can't believe you chaps are biting, TBH.

Oh, and MY bike **is** slow, and even slower than my car. Nah nah neh-neh naaah. Bloody good fun to ride, though. And yes, I'm sure Jackal's Volvo would be faster than my bike on the motorway, and comfier, yadda yadda. Equally, I'd st all over his Volvo in a point-to-point race through town, and he would have to pay £6 to park if he could find a parking space.

Different tools for different jobs, in general - apart from Jackal, who appears to be a tool for our time. Has he contributed anything useful to this forum website?

Its fairly self explanatory ...

A bike has no weight so it's not truly quick. Put it this way, if any of my cars, even my lowly volvo estate was as light as a bike then it would SMOKE any motorcycle you care to name.
Oh, la-di-dah! Look what I found in my laundry bag! All of Felicity Kendal's underwear, and it needs a REALLY good wash!

Bloody hell! OK, so it's one of Jackal's random trolls. Just think of it as The Friday Argument.

Why on earth do some of you resort to such personal name calling? Have you been insulted in some way?

Both have endearing qualities though :-) I 'm happy liking both :-)
id have to disagree with you there chap.

you bring your a radical with you driving and i will provide a BB Member with a modern sportsbike. i can bet a tube of jaffa cakes that your not within 6 seconds BEHIND him, let alone in front.

and to the op,

You're on. I don't own a Radical, but I'd be happy to drive one. I know from looking at the lap times I'd be just ahead of a BSB machine. A road bike would therefore be easy meat.
My money would be on the radical.
yes Look at Snett lap times. A well driven rad (SR3 or higher spec) will be quicker (marginally) than even a BSB bike round there.

I suppose round a tight twisty circuit, then yes, something like a radical would be marginally quicker on account of superior handling, but fk me, some of these modern superbikes accelerate like a saturn 5 rocket, and that is what would give the bike a lead it wouldnt relinquish around somewhere with longish straights, say snetterton or cadwell.

Didn't 5th Gear pit a Radical against a GSX-R? Maybe a 750 or 1000.

I know Top Gear used a 600RR.
