And lets not forget how these steel forests are produced!!

But don’t worry, the carbon offset for the production of the propellers will be dealt with by planting half a dozen oak trees!

I don’t know the source, but I was once told that it would take 70+ years for one windmill to produce enough energy to balance its manufacture. I don’t know if that is proven or not.

Add to that, that almost all the turbines are made outside the UK, and UK turbine manufactures are going out of business or scaleing back whilst our taxes are being spent overseas to make turbines for the UK power market

Did I read somewhere that this new type of "steel forests" actually failed to generate any significant contribution to the national grid during the Nov/December sustained winter weather ?

Amazing for all the hype, not to mention £squillions we've been conned into throwing at it.
And if it wasnt for all the subsidies then it would not be economically viable to generate electricity from wind, so when your paying your fuel bills next just remember that you have already paid it once in your tax
yes

And...well this could be a lie, but i heard the amount of concrete used to install these wind turbines had a significant carbon foot print...so much so that it out wieghed all the potential benefits.
I'd NOT be surprised about that.
Also I live near Grimsby where the support boats run from for the Lincolnshire off-shore farms and have it on very good authority from an independent electrical consultant that the amount of marine diesel they use (at high speed all the time !) running backwards & forwards several times a day almost negates any "environmental savings"

I'd love to know which company successfully lobbied Parliament to get them turned onto wind power & by how much "everbody" benefitted financially ???

Almost all the major players have been milking this particular cash cow for many years, supported by the green lobby and our stupidity

Yet contradictorily- North East Lincolnshire Council are getting all excited about an application from a company for a "Major New Project" to bring jobs to an area of the South Humber bank to build..................

yep....wind turbines !!

As if, with all the set up costs & investment, a Brit company could do better than companies in Sweden, Germany that have been doing this for years. They've probably missed the boat already, unless, of course, a few more palms have been greased to ensure massive expansion of on & off-shore steel forests !

E85 Ethanol?

Why isn't that being looked at instead of Electric?

In Brazil they create ethanol from crops, then they use it in their fuel injection cars with a government approved adapter that goes on your injectors.

Renewable fuel - Check
Better for the environment - Check
Able to use existing infrastructure, and technology - Check
Able to tax the arse off it on an 'Environmentally Bad' aspect - Fail

Able to make enough of it without the world starving because all the arable land and rainforest has been handed over to fuel production? - FAIL

Still causes pollution due to the combustion of Hydrocarbons, plus they've had to chop down the rainforest to grow the crops frown Lose Lose really!

Quite heavy and its amazing how quiet they are. I would not have one on the road for safety reasons. People don't see me so I make sure they hear me. You will have pedestrians walking out infront of you all the time on an Elec bike. Although not silent in the least, they are an uncommon sound and will most likley be ignored, though some may hear and think "what the...?"
All the same, Can't beat the sound of a decent engine and exaust note.
Forward facing speakers playing "ride of the valkeries" with the volume turned up to 11

EEStor
- 10 X the energy density
- 10 X smaller in size

Current investors include Lockheed Martin.

One day the battery issues will be sorted. Whether its this, or nuclear batteries, doesnt matter. Its coming.

The noise? FFS, that can easily be sorted, just like today you have 4, 6, and 8's that can have specific noise outputs engineered into them. Think of the sound of a Ferrari. Some people here hate them because they say its a "fake" sound, and too manufactured. Whatever.

As for the UK's sources of energy, just go bloody nuclear. France are WAAAAAAAAY out in front in this regard. I bet they must be laughing their derriers off.
