OTOH there are several other drivers every single journey who actively help me along when I'm filtering... creating a little gap for me or moving over just a little. I give them a little wave and everyone arrives at their destination just that bit happier smile
I agree, every day I have at least 5 or 6 good drivers who are paying attention move over to allow more room when filtering well before I've even got immediately behind them, I always give a little wave. I always did the same for bikers long before I got my bike license.

That'll be why then, those rusty, leaky, slow old things will breakdown halfway along a queue anyway so you need to stay near the kerb to make it quicker to push out the way wink

It took me a little while to build up the courage to filter, wasn't taught it on CBT, did do it on the way to my test though, but that was nearly two years after I had done my CBT so I had been filtering a while then. I don't do it sometimes when I can't be arsed, I'm not one of those bikers who will filter to the front of every single traffic light, even if I'm only four vehicles back, I'll just sit, I only ride a 125, which I think I could get away from most normal car drivers at the lights, so I could probabley filter to the front and be away, just sometimes I can't be bothered to have the bike screaming at 10k revs to ensure I pull away before the cars, and just want to cruise along. Plus there's too many knobs about who don't look when changing lanes, or before they're changing lanes, will sit on the centre line, or people who actively move to the centre line when you're coming through.

Oh and whilst we're moaning (well, some are hehe) people need to remember that there's some queues it's not ok to filter to the front of.

Mainly the ones where people are queing (in cars) to pay to get it, like at race meetings - that's just pushing in!

Haha reminds me, I always filtered to the front of the queue at the Tyne Tunnel when going home from work.

Is it bks. Unless there's a limited number of parking spaces or tickets available, bikes to the front!

You've never been to a big bike event in a car then - and before you moan about going by bike, you try going hundreds of miles on a 1920s bike!

As my daughter would say sme Epic comments on here

Got to love th why is your journey moinportant than others bit. Why did this need to be posted and what sense does it make?

Other than police, ambulance and fire bridge do you never know if other peoples journeys are mo important that yours?
I filter on a bike because I can, I like to make progress, I do the same in the car if it's safe to do so. Just not as easy to filter/ pass others on the roads when driving

What do you ride KingNothing, probably pass you most mornings. I must admit I'll quite happily do the same after all that's why we ride bikes and a large part of that is to make progress safely. So
As long as its safe I don't see why people have a problem with it.

This selfish impatient bathtub decided to let a unmarked police car go past on my way home last night. I saw and heard the blue lights and claxons and did what every upright motorist should do…….pull to one side to allow him to get to his emergency as quickly and unobstructed as possible.

It seems I was only one of a handful of people that did this.

Having checked it was clear to do so, I pulled out and went about my normal commute, only to pass the police car about 1 minute later. I had to stop for lights and once again moved over to allow the police car to pass. About 3 minutes later I passed the police car again

I don’t envy the services in London one little bit. They must pull their hair out

Interesting. I did a fair bit of filtering on my DAS, but that was around Bournemouth where there was always a load of traffic so no option unless we wanted to stay still smile

I cut to the front at the Severn bridge queues - it's free for bike so I'm out the way nice and fast. Do feel a bit guilty doing it though, but its about 3 seconds wait for the guys behind, and I get to avoid a 10min wait cooking the engine on idle, So i always end up justifying it in my mind by occasionally paying for the car behind when I'm in my car - karma must be about equal biggrin

That kinda thing I don't mind at all, it doesn't hurt and is a perk of riding.

It's more if you're in a queue for something specific, like the fuel pumps that I get annoyed!

Well i enjoyed 10 miles of epic filtering this morning behind a Police Bike smile

It was like Moses parting of the sea smile

Must say he was filtering a good 10mph faster than i normally would, but due to how the cars were moving aside it was fine.

smile

Nope nothing, but they did teach us to use bus lanes. Bristol has loads of traffic but as the DAS I don't think included filtering or the need to why make it more difficult.

Took some time with mates understanding filtering but it's simple enough and I find it strange when i see scooter riders to big touring bikers behind a que of traffic when their is enough space to filter a lorry past
