The Knox 213 hip armour in my Hood jeans/chino trousers is quite bulky.

Is there a thinner, but effective alternative?

The Knox 216 looks as if it could be thinner

Likewise what about less bulky pads for the knees?

I pulled a page out from a bike mag a while ago ............ can't find it just now. Anyway, it's this new stuff that is like gel, until its tted and then it turns hard (with a goatee hehe) in an instant.
Will look for it this weekend and put the name up. May have been a web address as well. I have got some of the Hood Slick jeans, waterproof is the claim and I need knee protecton for them.

I ended up getting some Hiprotec for the knees and the hips and stitching velcro to them.

I've not 'tested' them, but they are less bulky and much more comfortable thatn the previous Knox armour.

To breathe new life into this thread. I was looking for a new pair of jeans and noticed hood now do the custard-filled D3O armour.

Ordered up a pair. I have this armour on my Kyrano and Furygan jacket and although (touch wood) I've not fallen on it, I can say it's bloody comfortable compared to any other armour I've tried...

Can you let us know how comfy the armour is in the jeans? I have a pair of Hood jeans and my main complaint about them is the bulkiness of the hip armour!

Agree - I have Kryano (actually a Hood brand) and Furygan gear and the D30 stuff is brilliant.

Do you know which 3DO armour they come with? I've been keeping an eye out for a while but still not seen the heavier duty stuff on sale.

If I was going to go for it I'd prefer the T5pro to the standard T5, or for kneepads with jeans the T6 makes more sense, but looses some of the flexibility of the T5.

Fantastic product test here
