I have seen this advertised for a while now, took a brief look it is not just another historical drama, it is a drama set in a fantasy work, set on the Fire and Ice books.
Not sure if I can remember a drama series like this...*looks forward to it with baited breath*...

I've loved all the books in the series so far so I'd be interested to see how this panned out. If nothing else it would give me a Song of Ice and Fire "fix" as book 5 is currently over 4 years "late" and counting! (Don't get me wrong I generally approve of the "release it when its right" philosophy but damn it's frustrating!)

Looks like it has got some good actors in it.

The books are exceptional and really well written. Nice unique style that allows the story to flow. Really hope the series is as good and Lena Heady should have to disrobe at some point aswell......

I honestly can not wait. I think Lena Headey will do a cracking shift as the queen. Looking forward to that. And SB was made for these sorts of roles. A bit of a left field choice for King B but interested to see how he fares in that role really. He wasnt really on my wishlist for that role.

Read the first one a while back and am on book 2 at the moment.

From interviews with the author the series is going to be fairly faithful to teh books. The Producer chose the books because it's a cracking story and not because of the genre (which often works against being comissioned).

The plan is to cover a book per season.

Me and SWMBO are very excited about this!

The books get better as it goes on mate. I actually became fond of Tirion by the end of the 2nd book. Jon Snow is prob my fav character though.

The short preview shown last night On Atlantic looked very promising.

Sean Bean looks to have aged (and chunked out) a bit since LotR....

I find you most prescient!

Fracking 'ell, what an amazing first episode!! It was perfect, my heart did sink when I saw Jason Momoa but thank the Gods he didn't have to speak.
So many bloody good actors in this and it looked so rich and luxurious. As good as any film and hopefully a lot better. The story certainly was intriguing, makes me wanna read the books nowbiggrin

You havent read the books?

The TV show was very good, the books are 100x better. Really, some of the best books I have read.

Reading them does take a bit away from the TV show as I know whats happening, but it also adds to them as I know the characters much better.

Tyrion was very good, Jaime was excellent.

Cant wait till next weeks!

Oh and Momoa does speak in later episodes, but its Dothraki so might be ok

If you like George R R Martin, you should try Steven Erikson, also very good series starting with 'Gardens of the moon'.
