RHD Dodge Viper
Discussion
Seeing as I,m Viperless and looking at it from a non-owner postion I think its mellowed on me and could be great value/ even a bargain at the right price (And if were all completely honest the original Viper interiors were never anything to get over excited about). As Neil said it must have cost John a fortune to rebuild and I'm guessing it has had little use since so could be in very good condition for it's age. Worth a look?
John has done great job. I note the proper interior. By the way www.viperperformance.com doesn’t seem to work.
Looking at images of the orange car, my daughter comments that if one changed the radio of a black one more in keeping it would help quite a bit. I suppose the comment about a kit car is on the money; I guess that, more or less, is what it is.
All this Viper chat has reawakened my enthusiasm. With a set of chrome wheels and some body stripes it would be fun at the right price.

i have a few more pics if you need them
if your serious it would be worth a chat to John who rebuilt it,
here's his website

the orange colour John decided on was based on an old Mopar colour, beleive the rear bumper was taken off the original Hennessey aero mould that John got his hands on

I am a bit confused as the owner of the orange car has suggested that the work was done in Australia. He is way at present but I hope to see the car next week. It is reputed to have started life as a 2002 convertible. I assume it was involved in an accident and converted into a GTS spec. Based on John’s work maybe it could be improved with a more standard interior (at a reasonable price?)
I did look at the Australian website and was certainly struck by the quoted conversion pricing at around £25K for ’97-2002 cars. Ouch!

I was chatting to the builders today who are working on my new home, (remind me never to move again). And he mentioned that he knew a guy in Cambridge who has a yellow convertible.
I have heard rumours of this local Viper, in fact my wife has seen it parked in a garage near where I used to live. I have yet to see it
So what I hear you say, lots of yellow vipers about, however my builder who has been in this Viper claims it is a right hand drive?
Anyone heard of this one, seems like Cambridge may now have 2 RHD Vipers

the right hand drive conversion was done in Melbourne at a big expense, the rest of it after the fire was done by John in the UK
all the pictures i have posted are of the same car, as you can see it was a intially a yellow RT/10
i doubt very much you will be able to make it look more standard, without spending loads of money, all the RHD parts are only available from the Aus company

Good Afternoon All, its rare I post very much but just to let you know that I continue to be the proud owner of the nasty orange right hand drive Viper with the very dubious interior. As promised about a year or so ago, the Phoenix is going to rise from the ashes. Again. I have just stripped out the interior and it's being replaced by a bespoke custom made interior. No doubt I will be hated forever, loathed by the world, stoned and killed (twice) by the club members. Think NASCAR meets Spyker. To a pretty/very high standard. Depending on the level of encouragement I may post a few photo's of the re-build. Watch this space.
Good luck to you with your project, what I am struggling to understand though is the price the car was advertised at before you bought it. I hope for your sake you got a outstanding deal as now, if your ripping out the interior again that has got to be costing some and there are currently a couple of cheap Vipers out there which may be less than you paid for yours!
But at the end of the day its now your car and even if you wanted to paint it pink no one would care
All many of us here are trying to do is make sure future or prospective owners don't get ripped off by Sellers claiming a car is something its not.
Hope to see you at the Luton Lunch, ALL Viper owners welcome

Thanks - the price of the car was "wrapped up" as part of a bigger deal during my shopping trip last year, so it didn't cost an absolute fortune. Zonda's however do cost a fortune. I'm not trying to make my Viper something it's not. It is what it is. It's not even for sale so you wont have to worry that I'm about to rip off the Viper fraternity. I wonder when a Viper isn't a real Viper? The moment you cover it in decals, or re-paint it, or change the exhaust or add a turbo or change the front mats it becomes non-original. A right hand drive Viper is instantly and irrevocably "non-standard" so should I ever come to sell it all a prospective buyer has to do it see that the stearing wheel is on the wrong side and think "oh...the stearing wheel is on the wrong side, I better check this out". I have owned an Austin 7 Nippy for 48 years. I don't get rid of things too quickly. Will keep the site posted of progress. It wont be pink by the way, perhaps Allegro beige. Thanks for the invite to Luton. Next time perhaps when the interior in completed.

Hey there Banjoman sounds like you've made the best of the situation and its a damn shame you didn't know before the Viper guys tore it apart!.....Stateside Viperalley guys are killers too!!
I just cant understand why your Vehicle licensing guys cant carry over the history from past owners or other exporting countries as you guys seem to wipe the car clean even though it has a salvage or lemon history!!.....I guess us yanks get a few things right eh!?
