Well, before I left the UK I topped up the oil to the full level on the dipstick, as you know my car does use a bit now and again, so I made sure it was fully topped up.

All was well leaving the UK and I had no problems on the way down or general driving around Le mans, but stretching the cars legs a bit on Mulsanne and then braking hard in a short burst caused the oil to surge forward (even though I have the sump pan baffle kit installed) and some of it fill up the front cylinders and dump oil into the exhaust system......Result, plumes of smoke bellowing out of any small orifice it could find. I really did think at the time I had thrown a rod or something but under the car and all around the engine it was as dry as a bone! When I attempted to start the car for the second time the engine refused to crank, this was due to a combination of things, 1 the car had been left on the campsite overnight with the alarm on and no trickle charger to support the battery, so trying to start the car there was not enough power frown I put in a call to the Very nice man from the AA and upon arrival drained some oil out of the car (approx a ltr) dropping the oil from full to under the line on the dipstick. then we jump started the car and went for another test run after letting the oil burn off in the exhaust system.

I stuck the nice man from the AA in the car with me and we checked all the gauges were working and that there was no more blue smoke smile Also checked oil and water for any signs of Head gasket problems but all was good. smile

Dry sump system is the real answer wink

you need a new battery Mark if it can't last one night, it would of been fully charged after the long drive to LM

Baffled sump / oil pan will not stop oil from going into the valve covers then through into airbox. ...

You need to fit the catch can system and check your valve covers ..
