Has anyone tried to put in information on these comparison sites for viper insurance quotes ? They only seem to have quote options for vipers from 2004 onwards .The options are 2004 to the present day !Whats all that about ? mad So if you want a viper from 1992 to 2003 they don't seem to be listed .Surely theres a way around that impasse ? Any ideas anyone ?

You can't really use price comparison sites for anything unusual, the sites are designed and built for standard automotive fare. If you have, or intend to have something 'special' you will benefit massively from phoning an old school specialist broker whether the car you want is listed on a comparison site or not.

Hagerty have been good as well.

Thanks for the replies .I did phone cci and got a decent quote from a decent bloke named chris carter .A right helpful type who did his best to quote me happy .Now I have to find a series one viper .Is it me or are they still the most hard nosed raw version of the car which seems to have become more conventionally styled as they evolved ? Also if you are stuck at a petrol station that doesn't do higher octane fuel is it safe to put some standard unleaded in rather than push the thing .confused

American fuel is lower octane than ours at 91. I use standard Unleaded in my car with no problems what so ever smile

Just so you know Vipers are known in 'Gens' Not series wink

Gen 1 1992 - 1995 RT/10s

Gen II 1996 - 2002 RT/10s and GTS (Coupe)

Gen 3 SRT/10 2003 - 2006

Gen IV SRT/10 and Coupe 2008 - 2010

Gen V SRT Viper 2013 to present, SRT name now dropped 2014 Vipers back under the name Dodge Viper smile

PS: Welcome to the Viper Forum wink

As for insurance, it all depends on post codes and what you intend to do with the car and how modded it is.

If the car is stock, companies like Adrian Flux, Keith Michaels, Stevenage Insurance Services and possibly some of the companies that advertise in Classic American magazines might be able to give you quotes, but if the car is modded many of these companies wont touch the car! As soon as you say Import Left hand Drive or mods, most insurance companies don't want to know.

Some of the Jap import drift cars have the same problems. Worth checking out the modded car mags to see who they are using?

As was stated earlier, a lot of us use CCI (Competition Car Insurance) They recognize Club discounts and offer up to 6 track days cover a year at no extra charge smile They also welcome mods, for example : I fitted a roll bar and no extra charges, also no problem with Graphics smile
