I do hope you guys have had the decency to inform Adrian the VOA elected prez on the decision to launch this alternative venue discussion?
I thought this forum along with the VOA were where we discuss these sorts of things and where everyone who is still interested in vipers and club matters came for info and discussion, and anyway whats to inform? There is no alternate venue being organized, at the moment there is a very low commitment to the event as planned, this discussion and the wiki are to try and get to the bottom of why that is. If it gets people to sign up to the Dolphin then great, if it shows that an alternate venue would be better, then that is the time for a discussion with Ade about a cancellation and relocation, in the meantime Ade and everyone else is obviously welcome to join in here or unceremoniously indicate a preference on the wiki.

I've organised this club Christmas dinner way back in January mainly to ensure we had enough spaces at a nice place for all club members to attend, should they wish. Having it on a Saturday had always been a preferred day, around the second weekend.

So, I went for Saturday 12th December at The Dolphin in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire where we have been before and had good food, good accommodation and good entertainment in a lovely part of the country.
See here The Dolphin Hotel

All the details including the menu can be found in the VOA website here smile

I have 30 places reserved until end September - any places not used will have to be handed back.

Hope to see as many club members ther as possible smile - cheers - Adrian - VOA UK President

We'll be up for a Christmas meal, wherever the venue ends up being........

Sort yourselves out guys, you've always had a good turn out at events, particularly the Xmas meal and Luton lunch. You've always had such a good close club, well worth fighting to keep it that way.

I agree Brett...

This post was only started due to the lack of names posted on Adrian's sticky page at the top...

All I wanted to do is get a good attendance at a Christmas meal as we have had over the years . It was started with the Club members and friends in mind to have a great Christmas get together NOT TO STEP ON ANYBODIES TOES...

Adrian started the post back in Jan 15 because the Christmas 14 meal was a late booking although 20+ people made it. But for some reason not many names have been added for this years dinner,... Strange times.....

Strange times indeed - sad also that members can't see how important it is to support their club with events that take so much time and effort to organise for the benefit of its members. All I can do it what I think is the right thing and hope you and other members get involved? Are you coming Barry? Get your name down, chop chop smile

All the details are here - http://driveviper.com/forums/threads/7515-Christma...

Deadline to confirm reservations is end September.

Well i was only trying to find out why so few had put their name down. Sorry for trying to engage the club and ask them what they want so that the efforts of organizing events are better directed. I wasn't trying to sabotage anything, I'm quite happy if the dolphin is a success, but discussing it with others indicated more were unhappy with the venue, as it is 25% of last years attendees have stated so on here or the WIKI they wont be attending this year. I think that is something to listen to, but apparently that's just me!

Crikey We may be able to make a christmas doo this year we dont get back until the 7th from our jollies and we already have an event on the 12th for work so if owt else changes or the venue changes further north west say (Burmingham ya no mate) LOL.
No seriously though guys I can only guess how tough it is to sort something at christmas but its difficult to get family and work commitments in as well, but that said if there is a venue we can get to my and Suzy are up for it.
Be nice to see a few ugly mugs again.
