Will there be any 8 second Vipers at TOTB3?

Are you implying, or saying, that your Evo, when fully tuned to your goals, will beat a Viper (I assume/presume one that is in a similar state of tune or with similar bhp - that'd be a race).

Sorry ZR1. This thread would have gone without a hitch if there were only viper enthusiasts here and who replied, although it is rude for me to ask if there will be any 8 second vipers @ totb2 when I can't even afford to have a worthy car at the event and I do not drive. Like trying to influence someone on a major decision when I am not in the position to be influential for whatever reason.
Z064life, don't worry its only a game on this forum, if most people on it can't take a joke or a ribbing then they should back off and find somewhere else to play motoring is not about who come first or last or who is fastest or slowest its about competing.
Hell when I raced cars I was always in the last 3, didn't mean I couldnt drive just that I did not have as much money to spend.
Now I saved up all pennies and bought a Viper my personal dream and a car I love with a passion.
All I wondered will the EVO lot still have the same passion or will the EVO 7 be replaced by the :raz: EVO8,9,10,11......must have the fastest car in the world...............passion for speed but not the car.
Also some of the people on this forum are still at school, you can tell by the way they talk.

Dont have to say sorry Z06,,i was finding the thread quite amusing(its my sense of humour)
Your very keen and enthusiastic ,not unlike myself although sometimes i have to take of my corvette tinted glass's.
Try to get to TOTB3 and come and see us all,ime sure you will have a great day out.
Zr1368's son is around the same age as you,but to see the way he drives his dads ZR1 you would think he had been driving for years.

Will come to TOTB3 (well with more likely a chance than last year - as long as any personal things don't get in the way - hate it when that happens!), and I'd be there to support the Zs and Vipers despite how well they can do in any of the disciplines (I can't choose - their both awesome). Remember, this is if I can get the time/convince the parents (which would be an uphill struggle because of their lack of interest in cars, the distance, and my mum probably saying it would cost lots of petrol due to distance and a fair bit in general - accomodation etc, not forgetting that the car may be needed!). There is too much to consider (need a headbanging smilie).
Good post Paul. Your comment about these events being about competing, not winning or being the fastest, is very valid, as you are right - just because you don't win a race doesn't mean you can't race/drive - the reasoning can be deeper then that - like not having the money like you said (but then you konw that and all of this, otherwise you wouldn't have posted).
Also, if you want to talk about jokes and moses then you should take a visit to the MLR! Or maybe not lol...
Anyway, I am declaring this thread as closed (although it actually isn't), because I have replies from the majority of Viper owners here, except from one or two owners. If anyone is going to reply, please make it in response to the concept of this post - the question I posted as the topic. I don't want a discussion about another car coming in here, unless Corvette, because other boards only respect their own car, and rarely a similar car from the same origin. Why do people with very little to contribute here, have to post?

Question.....Please name the the F1 Driver that came second to M.Scheeeeee?Nope without looking it up I can,t either.....my point?Who remembers the driver that came second? In our case 3rd&6th TOTB2 top speed and 1/4.In my book I,d rather stive to win or give up,I think were doing the latter(hence Diablo)
Seems to me like the morale here is low, good thing I'm here hehe. Now if only John Hennessey was able to run @ this event in a venom 1000tt...
Seriously though, I am no Viper expert, but I don't believe anyone here is giving up - through enough money @ the beast and the beast will throw back at you some awesome results (with the odd part breakage here and there which is expected). It is just the costings and the fact that there is no, or a minute niche, viper tuning scene in the UK which is the reason that there is no massive power Viper in the UK. I hope I am not the cause of a beginning of a community spirit breakdown. Should I delete this thread?

I'll be there now!! LOLOLOLOL
Hey i thought you said you were a Viper/Corvette fan?
I am. But then if there is at least some non-Jap competition, and some non-Skyline competition at that (where a big power Supra falls under), then I'll be there. I'd be there anyway hopefully (I planned to be last year), even if this 8 sec Diablo won#t be there, and if there is no Viper or Vette that can't compete - personal things get in the way of visiting, and the fact that there'll be an 8 sec Diablo or a very fast Vette or Viper is just an incentive/catalyst.
ZR1415, you said there are Vette and Viper owners planning on making a big impact @ TOTB3 - please elaborate.

While you post, there are i would guess viper and vette owners beavering away in different ways on their cars and making plans at this very moment to make an impact on TOTB3,i am for one.
The key word here Zo6 is "Guess", i can only speak for myself really but i do know of others in the corvette world that wont be going to Elvington just to make up the numbers and i would guess that there are indeed some Viper owners aswell.
Myself..,well without divulging too much my engine is apart this very moment being modified and there will be other mods on the Chassis etc.
I should imagine there will be at least 3 Healthy ZR1's running Elvington next year,,not 1 sick one
One thing that stands out about Elvington for me was seeing Nadine going round the course on TV at the same time as a Kit car....and the viper winning..now that did a lot at putting "Respectability"back into American cars.
Like a viper owner said(Paul i think) if there is a spare seat going up to Elvington next year and your still keen then between us ime sure we can squeeze you in.
Yeah, the numerous achievements by the Viper made people realise what an awesome piece of kit a Viper is in every aspect (tuneability, the straight line performance, handling), and generated some respect. It is a shame really, because a lot of the haters of Vipers (and Vettes) base their arguments on the old stereotypes, which are only true for the old American cars, not the new ones. Best bit is, the achievements by the Viper were done on a state of tune that wasn't the highest (i.e. Nadine had 600bhp and a lot more can be achieved in engine power, and did pretty well on the 1/4, and also the handling circuit, especially when considering the competition). As for her suspension and chassis mods, I can't comment there as I haven't seen a full spec list of the car (with mods).
As for going to Elvington, well all I need to do is persuade my parents, but the cost and practical issues will inevitably (as always) get in the way of going. And if only parents were interested in cars (well my dad knows what a Skyline GT-R is, not bad). They don't know how special some of these cars really are, and I'll have to sabotage any holiday plans (like visiting overseas relatives, and I'd much prefer to make it TOTB3 instead).
P.S. I know if I was to take a ride in any of the Corvette or Viper owner's cars on PH, I'd be shocked by the performance, even if they are stock, and not running 8s, but running 12s/11s (my thread is relative to other cars).

Now where is my Matador cape, seems there may be some bulls round here to tame......................then enjoy with a nice red wine.
And heh, even if you win T0TB then no one knows your name anyhow.
Televised F1 is somewhat different to club events.
If Ferrari pulled out of F! would everyone else.No.
Elvington next years has just got to be fun, got to go even in my American I love fresh beef.

I will definitely have a spare seat for TOTB III as Shoebag will be taking her Snake or not going at all!!
I have some plans to upgrade my Z06 prior to TOTB III so watch out Vipers......
Nad's Viper would be a lot quicker if she prepared it for TOTB properly i.e. removed the spare wheel, roll cage, handbag etc.....

...handbag??...that was my tool kit, (which thankgoodness I didn't need to use). Agree with you I could have been better preped but I didn't get too serious about it all! Losing weight is the way to go, I probably could have easily shed 300-400 lbs in just what I was carting around! Gona have unavoidable extra weight next year as I'm currently fitting a water-butt in the boot, to run a little Aquamist set up!
Theres a good online dyno at this site www.douglevinmotorsports.com/
What's interesting is that if carting around an extra 400 lbs you need somewhere around an additional 50 rwhp to run the same quarter times!

Just to give you an idea of some Competition that may be at TOTB3. I was at Santa Pod at the weekend, and seen a fast car. He was at TOTB, but not TOTB2.
Its a white Ford Focus, rear wheel drive with cossie power.
So its not the usual Jap crap ( besides which, the 2wd Jap stuff didnt really do that well this year ), and its 2wd, and bloody fast. He was using BF Drag Radials, which would be road legal, and he did a 10.93 @ 130 mph. He did a couple of sub 11s runs, so it wasnt a fluke.
So theres something to aim for, and it isnt a drag only car, its more of a track car !!!
