Think those are just the wheels they use to roll the cars around the facility while they build them. They're not an option but I like your thinking...! Black wheels though . . .
Some great pics here. Am quite jealous of those who have one already...
I can't justify 40-50k on a toy but I'm planning to do a syndicate with 3 mates, we'll throw in 10ish each. I'm thinking upfront we'll do the deposit and enough for a used Caterham to play in while we wait for the Nomad and then flick the 7 once the Nomad is coming ready.
Of course everyone needs to negotiate spousal approval and that's a delicate process involving talks about school fees, horses and kitchens ...

Went to see the team on Wednesday to drive and start to discuss my car (Spring next year delivery)
Henry was super helpful and we had a lot of discussion about the balance of spec / capabilities. I want a track / road / light off road hybrid.
I'd appreciate others keeping updated on off road availability. My investigations so far have failed to unearth the equivalent of an off road track day and one rally school I contacted doesn't do days to drive your own car.
I agree with all the other recent comments. My starting spec will be an NA car, because, although I agree it's not mega fast, it's banzai enough for starters. And I don't think outright speed is that exciting. I'll go to a trackday in a different car to scratch that itch.
A few pics and my spec as of this week's discussion.
Very much like this batman spec

Amazing how the cost racks up, it's not as if you have even been extravagant, the only thing you have that I wouldn't is the winch, so add the charger & your at £60 k in a blink.
Could get a new Porsche Macan for that
If you wanted to simulate the feel of the Nomad in your new Macan, you could ask them to supply with no windows, just the front windscreen? Could get a new Porsche Macan for that
I think the media have thoroughly misrepresented the cost of this car and when you get Ariel's configuration spreadsheet, you realise how much you need to add in. My spec is at £72k which has prompted the question I hate most 'so, which car are you selling to make room for this'.
My coast to coast trip in Africa is accumulating quite a few challenges - kidnapping and ransom in Mozambique is the latest thing thrown into my path. Sadly, no roof mounted sub-machine gun option but I could speak to Ariel US who have probably fielded this request already!
I'm concerned about the lack of a race series and the lead times. Lighty, I think yours has slipped from 12-14 to 19 months?

I think the course would be a bit of fun in a Nomad and for £40, you can't grumble.
Rally Cross events seem to be the best option and they exist at local club level. I'm based in London / Suffolk and there is nothing in London but the country clubs do various events.
Pick up Land Rover International - they do green lane profiles and if you string together enough in your area, you'll have a combination of road and off road but again, they're quite short - 2 - 3 miles. I use Readly and got their back issues through that if that helps. I have not tried them.
The local farmer who owns the fields behind my house turns out to be a petrolhead and has given me permission to use his land although he has said that during harvest, he'd prefer me to stay clear or let him know if my need is great.

I was originally quoted 9 to 12 months when I paid my £3k deposit, it's now 19 months.
Still once you have been to their place & realise how many extras you will need, such as stainless steel body fixings at £400 quid etc etc it gives me more time to raise the funds
How do you stand with the 'non refundable' deposit in such a circumstance? They quote 12 months lead time but 14 months down the line they've still not allocated a firm build slot. Still non refundable? Still once you have been to their place & realise how many extras you will need, such as stainless steel body fixings at £400 quid etc etc it gives me more time to raise the funds
To add to the above.
The car is hugely expensive (even if it holds its value well), far beyond the £36k to ensure it is road legal. If it was reviewed as a Porsche then option costs would be part of the review, as with the Atom the options climb is ignored. You could argue that costs depend on use, but if you asked Ariel to spec a desirable Nomad, it'd be 45-55k, that is the ballpark in reality (N/A).
I also have had bad news, car IVA not due until first week in October, so that is summer done, ordered last May so nothing last summer and nothing this, so poor at setting customer expectations. Was originally told 9-12mths, now it's looking 18mths. Not fussed about 18mths, but could have planned other temporary measures in meantime, poor.
Mind is already wandering to other vehicles, Nomad will do well to stay in the fleet, at least resale looks strong with such slow production / lead times.

I agree and have had similar thoughts. In fact, a friend of mine has offered to take my build slot and given the slippage that everyone has mentioned, I’m seriously considering giving up on the whole idea. My GT4 suffered massive delays in production due to stop orders on carbon seats, being PTS and so on. The wait was painful. Not really interested in doing that all over again, especially for something that I don’t think will be a long term keeper.
My spec has come out at 72k and while I will get the VAT back, there are a lot of interesting (and potentially ‘free motoring’ choices) at that level. While the car was fun and there was a lot to like, it didn’t blow me away and I think that’s part of the problem.
I’d probably be more convinced to hang on if there was a rally cross series that I could enjoy the car in but that depends on enough cars being out there in the first place. Chicken and egg.
