It does Vinyl - however, in the kit you have a 'leather prep' - you do not need that for Vinyl. Simply clean the vinyl with alcohol cleaner, sponge on 2 base coats of colour, spray two further coats of colour and apply the finish. Looks bootiful. Nosh

"...if you have a muscular arse like I have..." Bwahahaha! What if you have a lardy one like mine? So, feeding the rubber mat in between the seat foam and the wire supports is a pain in the arse? Are you sure that not from the rubber spikes? "...and if we were doing porn this would be what they call the money shot..." ... I thought that would have been when you opened one of the beers and it's foamy head spilled all over the leathery folds. (Absolutely loving the video by the way...) Phil

Phil Cheers for the feedback, Phil - not suprisingly, I had been 'sipping' beer and Guinness all day, so (and after just listening again) I am slurring a little.... I thought doing a vid moght be helpful to other lard-arses (and perhaps people of a slimmer nature), whose seats are sagging... Nosh

Is it possible to leave it in the matt finish or does the gloss finish provide a protective layer ? My dash and centre console are Matt and I fear gloss seats would look odd

You can then apply your satin or matt finish. HTH Nosh

So is this basically "painting" the seats ?

taylormj4 said: So is this basically "painting" the seats ? Well, it is more like 'repainting' your seats - the kit removes the old finish and some of the old colour - then you simply recolour and add a finish..... HTH Nosh

As already stated, FC do a leather repair kit @£16 - I have ordered one today (as well as more gloss) as I found a tiny rip on the passenger seat..... ....didn't notice till I cleaned the darn thing!! Hi Nosh,
Great job on the seats. I'm about to buy the same kit to recolour a set of Cerb seats from green to magnolia. Can I ask if your seats were magnolia or cream?

Nick There were creamy magnolia - I paid the extra £10 to get colour matched, as I was not 'colour changing' - and the match was perfect. I would have thought that you may need an 'extra' base coat (3 coats rather than 2) before you break out the airbrush to do final colour coats. To be honest, I still have half a bottle of colour left (and this was the medium kit) - I did both seats (although not the backs of the seats) including the headrests (yes - almost forgot them! duh), the centre console is done as well. I also ordered some more gloss, as I want to do the back of the seats, give the 'faces of the seats' one more gloss coat, do the gaiter for the gear lever etc and also do the piece of trim that goes from left to right in the cockpit (where the stereo is). Really rewarding job, but expensive - not for the kit, but I have just realeased I will HAVE to get new carpets now as well!!! Nosh.

Hi Nosh,
After your glowing recommendations, I'm planning on getting the FC colourant kit to bring life back to my '94 Chim magnolia seats and also sorting the sagging issue having watched the infamous video..but I have a couple of questions about the FC kit first.
1). I believe you went for a gloss finish? But having got to the finished article, which final finish would you recommend? With the benefit of hindsight would you still go for gloss, or would you suggest choosing matt, or satin..?? doesn't the gloss look very "shiny and polished"...?
2). Did you also apply the colourant to any of the vinyl interior (centre console, dash, etc) and did it match and stay on there ok? Because I'm planning on applying it to all of my interior (leather & vinyl) which is all magnolia. So I'm wondering if I need to bother with colour matching, as if it's not an exact match, won't the kit just recolour everything to the same (just slightly different from original) shade of magnolia..??
Mike.
