& good luck with the Lupo lights, I had a nose at Haircut's Lupo lights the other week and they looked great.

I'm sure he will give you some fitting tips.
He did (on another thread months ago) but I don't know whether I'm brave enough to attack mine in the way that he did and I suspect my lights will probably remain unused and I'll splash out on getting someone else to do it. biggrin

OK - We're all thinking it but I'll say it...

"What, bouncing off your chin?" hehe

...anyway, I don't think I can rely on the alignment of my current lights any more as I'm sure the reflectors moved when I pushed the H4 connectors back on and they sure didn't move back again when I let go. frown

Look I know I started it, but stop jerking about.

You're going to release a sack of trouble.

I'd be interested to know whether you get flashed by oncoming cars, because those 24W sidelights will be pretty bright and I assume they don't have a shaped beam like headlight bulbs do.

Have you used them at night yet, and do they supplement the brightness of the headlights noticeably?
Hi David, an update for you as promised.

I came back from the Ace quite last night so it was my first run in the dark after fitting the 24w side light bulbs.

I am pleased to confirm I didn't get flashed once by oncoming traffic, and there were plenty of occasions were I'm sure I would have been flashed if my lights were dazzling other road users.

As expected there is a marginal improvement to the pool of light cast immediately in front of the car.

I would say the long range performance shows no significant improvement, the Philips X-treme headlight bulbs I fitted two years ago already give excellent performance in this respect and are a massive improvement over the standard bulbs TVR fitted.

I think the biggest advantage to the 24w sidelight bulbs is that the car is much more visible to other road users when you choose to drive with just your sidelights on.

Hope this helps?

Dave.

OK, just to finish this one off I fitted my new sidelight bulbs yesterday.

In the end I decided against LED & stuck with old school incandescent.

The BA9 bulbs are 12v 4w just as Bassfiend said, so I checked the wiring & figured I would try a set of 12v 24w.

I bought four off EBay for £4.49 so I have 2 spares.

Boy what a difference smile

Apologies for the rubbish phone camera snaps and remember this is in daylight.

First the new 24w side lights.

Now the 24w side lights with the excellent Philips X-Treme headlight bulbs.

Importantly I double checked the wire gauge used on the sidelight circuit and it is exactly the same as that used for the headlight bulbs so I don't see any issues running the higher wattage sidelight bulbs.

NB: Corrosion & general connector fustyness was my original issue, all resolved with a Dremel & a wire brush attachment.

A bit of contact grease to keep the corrosion at bay and a gentle tweak of the earth tang and they should be good for years to come.

Hi there. Would these fit a Griffith's sidelights? Hopefully the fitment is the same! smile
