Chilliman said: My chum responds as follows The chassis was always believed to be good. Only with a good look from above and with the waxoyl scraped off the bottom did it become clear the outriggers were gone. Cost of body off outriggers, then prime and p/coat whole chassis was quoted at £3750 cost of brand new strengthened chassis, wishbones, ball joints, seat subframes, brakes lines, bushes etc etc £5k - no brainer as regards vfm Suspension, brakes, gearbox, diff, driveshafts have already been addressed. Bit of a risk to paint before chassis, but company doing it have guaranteed against any paint damage. So why does your pal need a new chassis ? im sure after the outriggers are sorted the chassis can be strengthened Does anyone know what is involved to uprate the chassis ? Chilli

Having been down this long winding road, i can assure you using specialists with the best kit available replacing and improving every single part, including the chassis and drive train strengthening to accommodate all the extra torque an LS gives or as in this case sc you will see no change from at least 35K and that does not include the original purchase price I worked out i've spent over£2000 just travelling up and down the country during the build process!! That might just be that RT,S&D and D&C are all at the other end of the country to me and Topcats, but that does not even take into account the man hours involved, thats just train fares and petrol lol[ Bit of bad planning and the usual unforeseen problems and circumstance that arise on a project like this did contribute. What do you get for your money? A totally brand new bespoke GT3 RS eating monster designed and built to your spec from top to bottom Am i finished? No still changing things on a weekly basis! Do i sneak out to the garage and just sit there smelling the new car smell? Hell Yeh Have total respect for our friends commitment and passion and hope to have our cars sat together fully finished very soon I'll be at Jasons on Saturday weather permitting and am happy to give a few PR to anyone thinking about this kind of project, its amazing the smile nigh on 500 ft pounds of torque in a 1 ton car can put on your face What a pair of Jammy b ds!

Fully aware of this fact as i would like to think of several of them as friends! Have total respect for the guys that do the work themselves on limited budgets! Buy heh thanks for pointing that out to me! Its only my lack of skill and time due to 2 kids under two, 3 dogs and two labour intensive companies to run that sort of get in the way of me being able to do this! Not quite sure why you feel these types of owners as you like to put it may get more and have a bigger grin on there faces? I got total satisfaction, on my budget, all paid for with my own hands So reckon i'm just as happy as the next man! I did not realise it was a competition? Must be why Peter's always smiling more than me! Figures were being banded about on big re-builds with my car mentioned so just thought i'd comment! Get the impression a few of the people that do all their own work might be looking down there noses a bit at those of us who pay others? Look forward to meeting you and your car as i like to think of us as all TVR owners not types of owners! I'll and take my big willy were its appreciated

I believe we all are a bit envious of these big budget projects, I know I am. I would love to do what Linley and Christian are doing/done but it will sadly never happen. I would still do a lot of it myself but the ideal scenario would include GIVING UP WORK, spendin what I please on a kit of glorious parts and giving all the specialist operations to tried and trusted indies. There, I've said it, now back to earn a crust and trying not to be distracted too much by the entertainment that they call PH .

Err, I mean credit to ya as you could've spent it on a more [lesser] ready made car but chose to do to a TVR what should've been done to a TVR 'cus if it was we could still be buying new TVR's [if you see what I mean and don't want to see your willy if it's bigger than mine which they usually are,,,,, so I'm told having not seen any and in any case still wouldn't want to see it if was smaller either, no offence just don't like cock though talk like one sometimes and I should go now]
