Have to say, the picture of JD's car and the one that Swanny posted have got me thinking about the headlamp fairings again Last time I checked I think it was about 600 quid to have them done by Sportmotive..

By the way Boss white was banned years ago..Weird thing is the girls loved that smell.
Anyone got links to thet Sage green Chimaera..
Sorry if thats the finished item it`s naff .. Do you mean this Chim? (don't have a link but I saved the pic 'cos I like the older style grill/dog bite/indicator arrangement) Or California Sage Green as per my old Griff (see pic in my profile) Oh, and I quite like the new colour of JD's Chim, really glad he's still doing the blog. Thats the baby It makes the car look more of a classic and very expensive . Not been a fan of green in the past but this looks the nuts ,what is the actual colour ? .

In some regards I think a full spray with certain colours is a bit of a pain a TVR's moulds weren't exactly brilliant. I don't know what the lifespan of a mould is but some Chims or Griffs have the most shocking ripples down their flanks. I'd imagine that some paints highlight these badly so sometimes more work has to go into the shell prep if you're really serious?

Any remedial work required due to the moulds would have been done the first time it got painted, that isn't so much the problem. The problem is over the years GF, unlike metal, moves/distorts so it needs to be "corrected" again if you want to end up with a decent job. As you rightly say the paint chosen can make the job harder still.

I was once told that moulds have a shelf life and that TVR used them well beyond. I like the colour of this car. I bet it looks stunning on a day like today. Weirdly, I think it wouldN't fit the car if it didn't have the fared headlamps as the normal lamps have too much of a retro look to work with such a modern colour.

According to a chap I met who used to produce a low volume GF car, when the remedial work required was no longer cheaper than a new mould he was then forced to buy another one and so on. I dare say with the volume TVR produced they had that timing down to a fine art .................. and probably pushed it too far when money was tight, leaving it to the prep guys and painters to tidy up the mess.

Right, I have been made aware that the title of this thread has caused some dificulties/misunderstandings for the suppliers of JD's Supercharger kit, i.e. SC Power. It would appear that the thread title has led some to think that some of the project delays have been a result of the involvement of SC Power, who, I understand have been queried on this issue by potential customers. Speaking on behalf of JD, I would like to make it very clear that no delays are in any way attributable to SC Power. Speaking on my own behalf, they'd be the first guys I'd go to if I decided to supercharge beastie Big Al: I've endeavoured not to name companies in this thread as that's what led to JD now being absent. I hope this post is acceptable to you and PH. Just trying to be honest and up front... Chilli

Chilli It's boarder line as it about a banned members car, as long as it remains within the rules the thread should not be a problem, however should it not then it will be removed.

Linley was one of the first to congratulate me on my car and i really wish him all the best with this project! We should have similar figures from going down totally different paths so will be great to see the cars run together. Its great to see people pushing the boundaries and reading something different from the usual "locked out how do i get in topic" so would be gutted to see this post removed JD has lost all his privileges but i don't see why we should lose ours in enjoying this project!!! Thanks for posting Chilli

Without wanting someone to post a link to it, which is sure to cause trouble, didn't JD knock up a website/blog somewhere - if so why not just get updates there and you are not losing out on anything?

I think that might be on Facegive us your informationbook which i don't subscribe to! And i'm not losing out here at present thanks to chilli with the added advantage of getting to read the contributions from my fellow PH's so thanks for the advice but i'd prefer to stay part of the community as that was the initial appeal of ph "caring & sharing" "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything"

I don't think the white looks too bad (see profile pic) just looking at some wheels as well to potentially get sprayed up black and put on her.
I do kind of agree that this colour doesn't massively suit the newer style headlamps, but I'm sure it's going to look great when it is all finished !
Ps, please don't remove this post, it's like a fantasy thread. It would be like taking away top shelf magazines from a teenager dreaming about what one day they could have ! Ha.

If you are at all interested I am sure any of his followers reading this could PM you some sort of web address? (Please don't post a link on here as it probably won't go down too well)
