So after 24 years driving with a clean licence and no accidents my luck
has run out. Hit water running across a road at about 50-55, aquaplaned caught the right kerb with my back wheel and it flipped me into the crash barrier on the left. The car has no boot left. I am fine apart from being very very hacked off.
Kinda needed to share.

Arse.

Sorry to hear, easy to do!

I aquaplaned my 2 1/2 ton Disco with 1" deep mud terrain tyres on the A3 during one of those torrential downpours so a tiv must be easy, I hope I'll never find out.

Bad luck indeed, at least you're shaken and not stirred!

Really sorry to hear that. frown

However, and as you know, Chimaera's can be replaced and hacked-offness can be fixed; you though are far too precious to us. smile

Will post some after I have sorted the insurance. Front of the car is fine. Boot lid in the forest along with the spare tyre. just glued the carpet back down too.

Was doing about 65 on the dual carriageway when I saw the water as I had moved to the outside lane to overtake a lorry. saw the water, lifted off the accelerator, didnt go near the brake, slowed, but not enough clearly. Mind you it was like a frickin river across the road. In a&e at mo aching like a bd just making sure I bounced ok. Feck. frown

Thank you for the tea and sympathy folks. Really appreciated.

Just feeling a bit sorry for myself. The virtual hugs are helping, thank you.

Sorry to hear that mate, but as has already been said plastic and metal can be fixed, but most importantly you're ok.
Anywhere I might know?
If you need a hand with anything give me a shout. wink

Thanks mate. Annesley to Newstead left turn dual carriageway. Was taking it steady after the storm. So much so that I had pulled over to let a Smart roadster past. grumpy Got to the crest saw the truck noone coming up behind, pulled into outside lane to overtake the truck, sawthe water, the rest as they say is history. The storm water was running off from the woods on the right diagonally across the road. Still dont know what I could have done better other than drive at 40 right the way along there.

Glad you are ok. This is all that matters. It's annoying, but it's just metal, glue, leather and plastic (and a bit of rust). It will be repaired or replaced.

Feel better soon.

Try the outside lane of the M3 northbound as you pass the last of the Basingstoke exits and the M3 bears right on the way off to Hook ... that invariably seems to get a huge amount of standing water and has given me several ass-puckering moments.

As for the OP ... I'm gutted for you sir. Yes, I could roll out the trite "you should have been more careful" but to be quite honest there but for the grace of God am I too. Glad that you're intect but I mourn both your loss and the passing of yet another TVR into the hands of the cannibalistic b*st*rds that strip 'em. frown

I'm guessing it was somewhere along Annesley bypass then, that stretch has claimed many a victim. frown

Hope the car can be fixed, and hope you don't require any 'fixing' wink

Bad luck and I know that aching pain having totalled my Tuscan in 2009.
Didn't smile for ages.
Every cloud and all that happened for me as the insurance identified and payed out the market. Alue which was more than I had paid to buy it.
Ended up with a 2006 Tuscan and an even bigger smile than before.
Hope you get sorted out quickly.

I'd just like to add to the general outpouring of support on here...

You've been the victim of an incident that could have happened to anyone, and it sounds like you're okay. That's what's important. Fingers crossed your chimp can be fixed, but if not - well it's still only a (replaceable) car. Get well soon and stay positive. :-)

Really unlucky, I feel for you, the important thing that you are OK.

For me it was the slow motion replays in my head and the "if only i'd.....", forget it, put it down to fate. Hoefully your pride and joy can be fixed, if not, assuming your insurance is good, you'll soon be cruising the classifieds with a big grin...

Very sorry to hear that news but glad you're still in one piece. It's another salutory lesson to all of us how lethal these otherwise fabulous cars can be in the wet, even with good caution applied as you did.
I hope the car insurance gods will smile down on you. Out of interest, I wonder what tyres (and how old) your Chim was riding on?
