I have been looking at this aem wifi, how easy is it to wire in? And is it as good as the advertising hype?

It's perfect.
Responds in milliseconds and now matches the Canems ECU output exactly.
Two things to watch:
1) David from Canems had to send a firmware tweak down to the Lloyd boys to get the Canems AFR data logging working correctly (kind of an electronic trimming like you would normally achieve with a trimming screw on the back of an analogue AFR gauge)
2) It's possible not all WiFi enabled devices can connect to it, check your device can connect to an Adhoc network
Although the Lloyd boys had trouble connecting my gen 1 Ipod Touch, I hooked it up in 30 seconds (just luck I think) but my BlackBerry couldn't locate the network?
The team at LSD were very impressed with the X-WiFi, they connected to it on their laptop no problem & even used it for part of the mapping process before the firmware mod came through from Canems.
It's little things like the firmware mod that pushed me towards the Canems & Lloyd Specialist Development parnership, they work as a team to find solutions to little challenges like the X-WiFi.
The support has been second to none, LSD bend over backwards and work directly with the ECU manufacturer.
It also helps that Canems not only designed the ECU but they actually developed the software too, this means if you need a tweak it's just a call to David at Canems away.
Very happy with it so far.

Glad you are happy with it Dave.
I know your fueling was good beforehand curtesy of Mr.Adams but how much difference has that spark control made. A noticeable worthwhile improvement ?

Early days yet but the engine certainly spins up quicker, throttle response is in another league. And not just pulling away from a junction. On my way back from LSD I needed to find a space when joining the M25 from the M3. I stabbed the throttle as I might with the 14CUX & honestly it really took me by surprise The response was instant On the 14CUX it always felt like the the engine was catching up with what you asked of it. With the Canems it's more like a trigger, squeeze and off she goes Yet it's totally controllable, smooth and tractable when you are just bimbling about. Not sure about the economy yet, I suffered some shocking traffic on the way back so lots of idling Oh, and when things cleared a couple of spells at 110 leptons wouldn't have helped on that score either

Glad I didn't point you wrong... I headed down to Poole from Warminster and got stuck behind some traffic ... 800rpm (that's not missing a leading digit) up an incline in 5th just wasn't on the cards on my old 14SUX setup. Phil

Glad you're happy with your car and the Canems system, as Bassfiend knows we'll be having the same fitted to 'Kate' in about three weeks. In our case it was more to do with ridding the car of Lucas-based reliability issues but any performancce gains are, naturally, always welcome. Plus we're having our injectors swapped at the same time from Lucas 185 cc/min to Bosch 250cc/min (at the advice of both John Eales and Lloyds) so should be a bit of a step forward. At least we'll have a near-new set of injectors to put on the classifieds to offset the cost

Phil Phil, You know the problems we've been having, well I climbed an incline in 5th at 1000rpm the other day, smooth as you like. Think my dizzy is wanting to go out on a high as it was the day I ordered my Canems

You can see the effects on the Canems software which shows 75% duty cycle at maximum power. No need for any increase in fuel pressure that you might expect to need with the Lucas disc type injectors. So far I'm really happy with the Canems but it's still early days, more testing required What I can say for sure is that the service from Lloyd Specialist Developments has been absolutely first rate.

Yes one of the main benefits of the bigger injectors for us is that the fuel pressure can be wound back from it's current 47 lbs/psi to 36. Lloyds were great over the phone and via e mail, a pleasure to deal with. They have even given me a precise date for despatch, very professional.

ChimpofDarkness said: * 17:1 AFR ON CRUISE Not so sure if this is a great idea when pasting down the motorway for hours on end in heat (abroad obviously) I know modern stuff can do it but they are built/designed differently to do that so irrelevant here. Anyway, we can all bang on about the theory but let's see what happens in the real world, sounds like a good improvement so far.

I went for the 30LB Fiveo GEN 111 .I would import them from the USA ,save your self a fortune.. http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/domestic-high-perfo...If you put the megsquirt and camens side by side I don`t think there is any difference .. How much did the camens system cost and do you have any under bonnet pictures ?, Where is the ECE and controllers fitted ..Have they removed all that mess next to the battery ..

SILICONEKID340HP said: If you put the megsquirt and camens side by side I don`t think there is any difference ... Possibly - but if you put a Megasquirt and a CANEMS side by side there might be plenty of differences. Depends what you mean by "I don't think there is (sic) any difference" ... at the end of the day they're identical in that they control the running of an engine and allow accurate mapping of fuelling and spark control with reference to an AFR table but there are many units that do that. Thankfully there's room in the world for a number of different ECUs and previous to the last couple of months then I'm more used to seeing my mate tweaking the Life Racing / Syvecs' F88s that are on the race Skylines... SILICONEKID340HP said: How much did the camens system cost The CANEMS details are on their website but mine was £1,795 fitted... SILICONEKID340HP said: and do you have any under bonnet pictures? I'm sure I posted some at the time I had mine done... SILICONEKID340HP said: , Where is the ECE and controllers fitted The ECU is bolted to an aluminium plate which is used as a heatsink in the passenger footwell... SILICONEKID340HP said: ..Have they removed all that mess next to the battery .. They have on mine - and the battery as well - but that depends on what else is tucked away down there. I believe that Dave's footwell is rather crowded with a battery brain, battery isolator switch and the battery so probably isn't as tidy as mine but *ALL* of the original ECU harness gets removed. Simon says said: Why have you got money burning holes in your pocket Daz? No but i would like to loose all that rubbish tangle of wires above the battery box .I can`t believe TVR would leave it this way . I have even more stuff down there including the two lambda controllers. Managed to fit the ECE up behind the glove compartment fixed with a couple of self tappers.. Im wondering who has the knowledge to tidy the wiring and mabe fit it all in some type of box. Tell you the truth all those wires are a bit embarrassing..
