Something jamming causing in not to go into first or second??

Obviously I have no idea, I did have an issue with exact same symptoms in my 911. It turned out the gear lever had twisted slightly, this meant it was at an angle and wouldnt slide into gear. I spoke to some people on here, twisted the gear lever and spotwelded it in place. Fixed immediately despite the Porsche specialist insisting I needed new bushes and linkages and it was no way the gear lever itself.

No idea if this is a possibility on (I presume) a t5 box. When was the last time the gearbox oil was changed? This too can often make a huge difference, Its something I always do now when I buy a car.

Oh and if you see a pale blue chimp around ipswich (M171KPA in exceptional condition with blue roof) can you let me know. My brother has mine until xmas and has sworn blind he wont take it to work. Nice to have spies everywhere wink

The oil was changed recently, the gear shift was a lot smoother after it was changed and seemed to be perfect. The clutch works fine. Not sure if i have a big bill comeing towards me(gearbox rebuild) or maybe a linkage problem.

Mine had a very similar-sounding issue where it was a real hassle to get across the gate to 1st and 2nd. It turned out to be a nylon bush somewhere in the selector - think it was about £350 for the part and then an hour and a half-ish of labour to sort it. It's certainly much improved now!

It sits in the right place in the gate, just won't go forward o r backwards(1st or 2nd)once it does go in it works fine with no problems. How do you get to the nylon bush, inside of car or from uderneath.Like to get it sorted before it gives up on me.
