How much for a good 450?
Discussion
Mods - please leave this up, it's a serious question and I'm sure folk can find Pistonheads classified ads without my help.
I've had my very clean Olympic Blue 450 on the market for 9,250, then 8,250, for over a month now.
The mileage is just over 70k (mostly blasting across Europe on motorways in my ownership). Virtually every bill, tax disk, and MOT ticket, from day one, is included in the thick file of paperwork.
> Do people not want to travel far (the car's in North Shields)?
> Is the market just very slow at the moment?
> Am I asking too much?

north shields is miles....which is why you have great empty roads, the market is slowing but it isnt too much, but the weather has turned wet, and toys dont sell.I've had my very clean Olympic Blue 450 on the market for 9,250, then 8,250, for over a month now.

Really need to sell her now - question is how much to bring the price down by...?
its not that its so far.....more that most of the population is elsewhere, and by the time you've looked at local cars, you've probably found what you want.Really need to sell her now - question is how much to bring the price down by...?
pricing, all depends on just how keen you are, but priced aggressively, anything will sell.
I paid more than that for my 400 a few weeks back.
To be honest its the distance, I had such a good choice within 100 mile radius there was no need to travel further
Your car looks really good and I remember seeing the ad when I was looking. Just had another look at it and...it needs spacing out. Use some bullet points, theres too much information crammed into one paragraph.
Good luck with the same

Bought a Volvo from someone 125 miles away, six weeks ago. Wished I hadn't, as getting the problems fixed is a five hour round trip. We have only had the car for ten days in that six weeks. Now buying locally in future.
I looked at your car and was tempted, but the distance put me off, as did the interior colours, and the mileage. There's a fair amount of choice out there, and if you are going to use it, you want some leeway in the mileage. 70k is average for a regular car, but high for a TVR.
And it's the wrong time of year. A good friend of mine has just put his T350 to bed for the winter.

I drove a friend of a friends car when I was looking and it had done a lot more miles as yours but drove tight as a nut.
Try and keep it until the spring and sell then.
Correct advice. My 400 has 71k on it because it has always been used regularly, and it is lively and lovely to drive. But I wouldn't try to sell it in October. Keep it until the first sunny weekend in March.Try and keep it until the spring and sell then.
70k is fair to high mileage for a car like a TVR.
If the car is well looked after, with a sound chassis, years ticket and not too much work needed (certainly nothing major) then I would say £9000 is right money - just not this time of year - the market is dead for this sort of car and will be until spring.
if you had 9k to blow on a weekend toy (which most TIV's are) would you wait until the October of one of the wettest years in history to part with your cash? I might spend 5K on one that needed a lot of work as a winter project but would wait until spring to buy a decent one so I could get some use out of it.
I'll echo what others have said - South shields isn't the moon but when I was looking there were half a dozen within an hour of me (Halifax) so i had no need to go further afield and would only have done so for something exceptional. In the end I paid £10k for my 50k miles 450 but it had an immaculate interior, good colour and a solid chassis and this was in April.
If you can wait, if you can't then you'll take a hit at the moment.
Good luck.
