Julian, this is just classic Chilliman.
You will get used to it (maybe) smile

On topic; for me it always has been and always will be 'Chimaera'.
I don't think I've often shortened it in writing, but absolutely never in speech.
And no offence to anyone preferring to call themselves 'Chimpa<something>' biggrin, but I've never liked 'Chimp' personally.

Frequently refer to Chimaeras and Griffiths as Chims and Griffs, which really annoys me. What annoys me more is that I can't stop!

They are all terms of enderment, how many times have you called it "that f.....g heap of ste, or "you B,,,,,,d" or some other such profanity, only to have it running again, wind in hair, V8 burbling behind and a massive smile on your face, my missus calls it a chimp cos she reckons its a monkey driving it, my only acceptance of this is I could be considered a little hersuit (but thats another story probably best in the Griff forum)

My mate has named it 'Thumper'. Thought it sounded good until he was referring to single cylinder engined motorbikes! Cheeky sod.

Just to throw a spanner in the works and go off on a tangent, Wikipedia read says that Chimaera is also a type of fish, branching off from the shark family some 400 million years ago.(My brain hurts)
There are silver, black and purple ones, and a Philippine chimaera, but no Malayan ones. silly
I know that's no help, but it's late and the alcohol is talking drink
Apologies........

if you buy a Griff then you tend to look like a chimp - it goes with the chest medallion...
