Have you got your SC Chim back yet Chilli?
Hi Matt, no not yet, been home now a week, was offshore for six weeks, and in Aberdeen for four weeks before that, so not even managed to get the car up to V8D yet frown Probably not get this done now until February/March next year.... Only driven the old girl once now in nearly two and a half months, which was Saturday night, and it was pissing down with rain frown She's also now slightly overdue for a service, so I need to get her booked in, and don't want to put more miles on before I get that done, so also a bit hamstrung... I'm hoping the SC irons out the few issues I have currently, which is really about low rev driveability, and a bit more power/torque below 3000 rpm... Probably due to the need for a service and a remap, but she's a bloody pig to drive below 2-3k at the moment.....

Cheers mate, Chilli smile

Hey Chilli

I should imagine that the SC should help with the low speed driveability. iirc you have the H404 cam which is know for it's epic high rev power but be a pig around town as it is a high lift cam. SC should give you the best of both worlds. I will be very interested to hear from you when it is all done to see what you opinion on it is.

Regarding the service mine was due October but money is a bit tight so I just done a oil and filter change on mine to tide it over till March when I will take it to my specialist for a full service and hopefully a few minor upgrades / shiny bits smile
Hi Matt,

Also about to do an oil change smile Will let you know how things go with the blower biggrin So, er, what minor upgrades/shiny bits are we talking about here????

The LPG thread has been resurrected. Just for the record, I would like to state that in my opinion, whilst a Chimaera with LPG can rightly be considered 'modified', it should in no way be considered eligible for membership of our esteemed club.

Right,

Had some more info on my Chimaera post mapping, so here's the spec..:

TVR Power re-built balanced 4.6 engine with tophats
Pete Burgess-worked TVR Big Valve Heads
TVR885 cam
Vernier timing gears
JP Exhausts SS manifolds (precats replaced with reversal cones)
JP Exhausts SS Y piece
SS swan neck
200cell hi-flow cat
Insulated smooth-bore intake hose & 90-degree elbow
44mm intake manifold & alloy trumpets
72mm plenum
Stepper motor removed, replaced by IACV
AFM replaced with aluminium tubing
Bosch "red top" injectors
Plenum spacer & thermal insulator gasket
PiperX air filter
Alloy radiator
Powder-coated rocker covers
Braided fuel hose
Samco hoses thoughout.

Emerald ECU running coilpacks

Gaz Gold coilovers
SH droplinks
Grooved/drilled discs + EBC green stuff pads
"Estoril" powder-coated alloys.

Full Leven engine bay kit
Rocker cover oil breather powder-coated chrome
Metal dash upgrade
Full Leven cockpit upgrade
Aftermarket steering wheel
Clear indicator upgrade

Engine mapped at 500miles on 95ron, producing 318BHP - still awaiting torque figure.

So 318BHP on a 500 mile old engine - should release a few more ponies in the next couple of thousand, taking me over the 320 mark - the 300BHP/tonne milestone.

As they say in the advert - can I upgrade..? wink

Do i qualify for the club ?rolleyes
No.

Anyway, moving on, I had an experience today that I'd like to share with MCC members. Note I say MCC members as others will scoff/not understand/not have a clue smile

So, Driving sedately from Dereham back towards Norwich on the A47 about quarter past four this afternoon I find an Audi RS4 sitting about three feet off my rear. We're on the single carriageway bit, and, as a responsible owner/driver of a high performance car I naturally do not react. Come to the next roundabout and a white van gets between us. Good, I think, I hate people sitting right up my chuff. Come to the next roundabout, and the other side of it is dual carriageway. I know instictively that before I hit the dual carriageway, if white van man is out the way, the RS4 will be right up my chuff again. And so it was. So, I did the only thing any MCC member would do, which is not to move over and let it by. Now, you could call this childish, immature, irresponsible, or whatever, but, because I'm really only 12, a point had to be made. So, I know my Chim does 0-60 in sub four seconds. I know it accelerates up to a 100 like a stabbed rat. So, I, er, floored it. In second gear biggrin. So, we went from around 30 up to pretty much 70, in second, and not in an entirely straight line. Back likes to hang out a bit in second, so it probably looked fairly spectacular. Or, if you don't appreciate that kind of thing I probably looked like a Wancensoredker. Anway, end result was RS4 was dead in the water, and, I suspect driver of said RS4 was somewhat miffed/surprised/pissed off (as they think that nothing else is faster, particularly an old fibreglass sports car built in a shed).

So, I know it's juvenile, I know it's petty and an immature thing to do, but, feck it made me smile biggrin

Chilli old son

Much as I hate to agree with you being a Chimper, sorry, a Chimera owner, those Audi boys are so pathetiiiiiiiiiic, again, again and again, good on you, long live the breed.

A.
Dear Argent, I take no offence at being called a 'Chimper' wink And thank you for your kind words. Regardless of what TVR you own, I believe we have a responsibility to remind the world that some things cannot be challenged, that some things are simply great, and even if modern creations might be 'better', they will never have the greatness, individuality, or iconic status that we, as TVR owners, can so thoroughly enjoy or appreciate. We are, after all, a somewhat odd band of car nuts, that believe in being different, and, in all probability, don't conform even to the typical PH 'petrolhead' stereotype smile

I'm off now to cook my sheeps Head with eyeballs, shag my girlfriend and her two lesbian mates, and watch Kill Bill for the fifth time.

Have a great evening,

Chilli.

Daz, It's getting silly mate, the standard chassis and suspension geo won't get 500 bhp on to the road any more than it will your 339.5 wink. I would defy Neal or Nigel to get to 60 any quicker than I can.... Maybe a bit quicker to a hundred, but then we're into license losing territory wink These guys aren't building road cars, they're building quarter milers or track cars, or maybe autobhan motors. Naturally I stand to be corrected on this smile 400bhp is as much as you'll ever be able to use in a Chim or Griff on UK roads, and even then only if they're bone dry (the road that is). 500bhp in a Chim will probably give you a similar PTW ratio as a Veyron, but without the four wheel drive, traction control, stability control, aero package, etc etc.... in other words a lethal weapon. I'm a power junkey, but you have to know when enough is too much, and if you have the talent/skill to manage it.

BTW I'm getting my SC installed in the new year whistle

Richard, this is what you want, not a cerb!
Be interesting to know how the new chassis will perform with that much power going through it scratchchin I'm taking beastie up to Sportmotive end of next week, and she'll be there for about three weeks having 'stuff' done smile In the short term my obsession with the 4.5 Cerb will only permit the completion of beasties planned final mods (most stuff already bought and residing in my living room), and the detailing programme I have in mind for her. I'm also going to have one last attempt to buy whats left of the 3000M just up the road from me that's into it's third or fourth year of outdoor never moved existence... I walked past it last time I was home and as I passed it whispered 'save me please save me'....LS...LS....LS....;)

I think I may qualify for this modified Chimaera (nutters) club. Ian at Sportmotive is rebuilding my Chimaera 400 with his evolution chassis and 6.2L supercharged 556bhp LSA engine + 6 speed magnum box etc etc. The rolling chassis should be at the Neil Garner open day on 30th March.
Mark, as the MCC self appointed moderator I would like to say that In my humble opinion you would most certainly qualify for membership, however, our leader's word is (usually) final. I think however that his membership 'challenge' is a trifle unfair, as notwithstanding the huge horsepower you will have it will not guarantee winning on the quarter. Unless of course this is also your forte'... Our leader will expect to beat you on the simple basis that whilst he is flicking his warp drive switch on and disappearing into the distance at mucho knots you will be creating huge amounts of expensive tyre smoke with little forward progress smile

I would be pleased to have a word in his shell like on your behalf should you so wish...

Sincerely yours,

Chilli
