Are you questioning the need of 400 bhp when your Chimaera in all fairness can just about handle 300 even when properly set up?

Are you of the conviction that you don't need to fix what's not broken, but certain cost-driven compromises and ideosyncrasies with which the cars left Blackpool could do with some aftermarket improvement?

Are you keen on preserving the basic 'old school' character of your Chimaera without eschewing improvements that could make your car nicer to drive and own, as well as helping long-term preservation?

Do you think Eagle E-types and Frontline MGB LE50s are a more interesting proposition than a 1,000 bhp hot rod?

This is your club...

Count me in!

For me, I want any mods to be:
  • easily reversible,
  • in keeping with the "period" of the car,
  • invisible, or at least very discreet,
  • an improvement to the car's usability without changing its character or over-modernising it.
Apart from the usual Leven bits and bobs, the only visible alteration on mine is the clear indicator lenses. I have added a "Wolverine" oil pan heater (although that's currently out of action because I damaged its wiring on a speed bump - oops). I am considering adding David Beer's two-stage fan controller. But that's about it - I want mine to stay original!

At last, I may have found the club for me/us..Kate is currently around 290bhp, has discreet mods such as an aftermarket ecu (and to be fair she was dying under Lucas), ok ok a new interior but by two ex-factory trimmers (D+C), bigger front brakes (but off a Tuscan), a new alarm + immobiliser (but hey, it's still a Meta)and, erm, well the engine isn't the one she was built with but it's a Rover V8 and I believe Mr Eales uses ex-TVR blocks. I think. Anyway, all in the original spirit just much easier to live with than she was smile
oh, forgot the Gaz Gold pro's but you can't actually see them, not unless you've just been run over by her and are still stuck underneath rolleyes

+1 - 4th member??

V early 400 - 10-years ownership - last 5- Speed Hillclimbing & Sprinting - Just come 4th in Class with 2012 TVR Speed Championship.

Has poly bushes, Racing Red shocks and a TR Lane roll bar - runs on 888's

Has 47K miles, new cam 2-years ago MC1 and a new clutch (500 version), spacer on plenum, produces 230 Bhp & 270 Ft Lbs.

Looks & is as Blackpool would have liked it? (Have replaced the drivers seat for an Elise one at 20kg lighter).

A mere light weight in power & mods - but it sees off 30+ other 400/450/500's in Championship.

Trev (Just got a Tamora....wow!!! But still have Chim!!)

I'm in, and damn the MCC for their 'leven stalks' and 'act intake' exclusion rule for keeping me out.

I knew I belonged somewhere .............. So before anyone says anything, I will wait here until they catch me.

I am hoping I can join. Pretty much standard Chimaera apart from some Leven bits, an alloy rad and most likely some Nitrons.

What's the club view on headlights? Mine currently original but rusting nicely....
