R745 NTT - Anyone know it?
Discussion
Hi Simon he is 17 now, i have had a Tuscan 2 S up until a year ago and sold it to a guy in germany had to spend over £5000 on it, its along story will fill you in on the details when it is legal to do so. But on a positive note i will be looking for a Chim in the new year the Tuscan is a great car but a very different beast.
Well, we assessed the area everyone would be most interested in yesterday:
So we've had fibreglass before, now we've got what looks like gas pipe outriggers!

Main chassis rails are actually pretty good for a 97-98 car though, so that's good. Doesn't really matter as the whole point is to pull it apart and make it nice again anyway, but it's always interesting to see what bodges are out there on the market!

This is scary stuff! There was no chassis damage when the car was written off in 2002; and can't believe it would have been replaced due to corrossion at 5 years old. Certainly nothing was done to it during my ownership and it flew through 3 MOT's without issue.
If Kev didn't carry out any repairs then must have happened during last two years. Does make you wonder what we are all driving round in though!
Trip down to Fareham to get mine checked methinks!!!!

The Chimaera with fibreglass outriggers was the worst one I've seen. It's now one of the nicest at least, but that fact someone bodged it like they did left a bad taste in the mouth. If Kev didn't carry out any repairs then must have happened during last two years. I think with this car they probably did try to do a slightly-better-than bodge job, but failed.

If only.Scaffold poles rock
Thin wall and plugged together in sections. Our best guess is part of a kids climbing frame.
This bit laying on top of the tube is the seatbelt mount.
Nice piece of high pressure fuel hose?? Laying against the exhaust manifold.
Nice 'Brighton Rock' twist to a brake pipe.
Some views of the other outrigger.
The chassis is stripped and will go off for grit blast in the next few days.
In the mean time I have started re-veneering the dash and will shortly start the engine strip.
Steve
Dash veneer going on.
Veneer supplier (and others) suggested that I should have a sub layer of veneer bonded on with a suitable glue for steel. Then bond on the proper veneer using a wood glue. This is to help with the thermal expansion issues that may exist.
Moisture activated foaming Gorilla glue.

Hi Steve
The dash looks great, I need to replace mine as well, could you tell me who is doing it and how much?
Thanks
Paul
I'm doing it myself. The dash looks great, I need to replace mine as well, could you tell me who is doing it and how much?

Will have to wait until I have completed the 16 coats of varnish etc. before I decide if I want to do it as a paid job. Replacement dash are about £240. I've spent about £55 so far.
Just received the two pack varnish today so should start that at the weekend.

What's wrong with the dash? It was Ok 10 years ago!
This was my first V8 TVR (had an S2 for a while) fulfilling a long held dream of mine. Fine when I parted with it(in 2006)and although I knew it was in intensive care 4 years ago I thought it had gone to the great fiberglass heap in the sky! Pleased to see that it is being resurrected. Can't quite believe state of that chassis...passed 3 MOT's in my ownership first time without advisories. Was I really driving around on a climbing frame? Bought another Chim after this one but have now moved on to my ultimate (for me) TVR a '92 Pre-cat Griff.
Best of luck with the rebuild guys....
