R745 NTT - Anyone know it?
Discussion
Fingers crossed the chassis is viable when you get to see it properly. The beauty of TVRs is that you can get a new one if not!
Also, not saying you shouldn't make up your own new heatshield but you can buy pre-made here: http://tvrpartsonline.co.uk/
Keep the updates coming.

The outriggers are well shot and have been cut off already. Also, not saying you shouldn't make up your own new heatshield but you can buy pre-made here: http://tvrpartsonline.co.uk/

There is one other area on the chassis lower tube that will need cutting out and replacing but the remainder is not looking too bad. The inspection after grit will revolve around how much surface pitting is acceptable and if other sections need replacement.
I have used aftermarket heat shields before. I can't remember where they came from but spent way too long trying to get them to fit properly and ended up only charging the customer the time I thought it should have taken.

Started work on the engine today.
Have not seen this before...valley gasket rusted right through.
Someone stole one of my rocker pads.
Add a crank regrind to the list. These are main bearings but every bearing in there was through to copper. Really quite a surprise as the engine was one of the sweetest and quietest RV8's we've seen.
The cam was always going to be replaced but I was surprised to find only one lobe worn down (2.5mm less lift than the others).

Well Rob's body went away for painting on the understanding that we may not get him back for two or three months as the bodyshop were going to use the job as a 'fill-in' when things were quiet.
Seems it was quiet from the start so 14 days later he is back.
Very pleased with the result

There's a very good reason why cabinet makers train for so long and are so highly respected as craftsmen.
Simple answer, trying to re-veneer my dash has not gone to plan and highlighted my lack of skills in this area (I can't plaster either).
So, plan B.
Cover the dash in charcoal Alcantara.
I think it will work with the grey themed interior I'm planning.

ETA Yes I know the speedo is not in straight. It's just sitting there for the photo then it's going away to be fixed as the Odo is jammed on 100K.

What's wrong with the dash? It was Ok 10 years ago!
This was my first V8 TVR (had an S2 for a while) fulfilling a long held dream of mine. Fine when I parted with it(in 2006)and although I knew it was in intensive care 4 years ago I thought it had gone to the great fiberglass heap in the sky! Pleased to see that it is being resurrected. Can't quite believe state of that chassis...passed 3 MOT's in my ownership first time without advisories. Was I really driving around on a climbing frame? Bought another Chim after this one but have now moved on to my ultimate (for me) TVR a '92 Pre-cat Griff.
Best of luck with the rebuild guys....

I'm just about to start bolting the running gear onto my repaired, blasted, zinc thermal sprayed, then powdercoated '92 400 Griff chassis..! New EVERYTHING!!
£5,000 spent on chassis/running gear, so far...
Also, I'm building a 4.3 BV...As money and time allows
Pre-cats R-U-L-E.!!

I LOVE the new colour of R745... It really suits it.!

I made some templates from the original engine bay heat shields. From these I made new shields.
Went to fit them today but was not happy with them so I've modified them with masking tape and from that will make new templates and new shields.

I covered my heat shields with perforated aluminium. It helps a little bit to deflect heat, but its main purpose is to protect the heat shields from damage.Went to fit them today but was not happy with them so I've modified them with masking tape and from that will make new templates and new shields.
