I had my TR Lane modded by Caged of Frome (copied from fellow TVR Champ competitor Capt Chaos's)
Used for Sprinting & Speedhillclibs (TVR Speed Champs), with full harness & Lotus Elise seat - I'm 5ft 6inch, so feel safe - side impact is another subject!!
I haven't bothered to use foam pad, as I haven't had any impact, even in competition?
Cheers

I can shift it backwards a couple of inches if need be. But, yes, if I want to remove the centre element completely, roll bar out.
In 2-years, have had no need, other than the mod, as seen, to the original.
Definite firming of rear with roll bar, which allows a softer damper setting for less tramp on the green light.

Id say no to wind noise but mine did amplify the noise of the fuel pump!
So you probably are getting a bit more road noise
From physics I think that the answer has to be yes to both. Whether it's significant is another matter. I've not known anyone base their decision on this aspect before but you live and learn. So you probably are getting a bit more road noise
I won't be basing my decision on these factors, I was just curious as much as anything and wondering if I could fill the tubular members with expanding foam prior to fitment, if a lot of road noise was transferred. However, based on feedback so far, I wouldn't waste my time with this exercise.
