I had my TR Lane modded by Caged of Frome (copied from fellow TVR Champ competitor Capt Chaos's)

Used for Sprinting & Speedhillclibs (TVR Speed Champs), with full harness & Lotus Elise seat - I'm 5ft 6inch, so feel safe - side impact is another subject!!

I haven't bothered to use foam pad, as I haven't had any impact, even in competition?

Cheers

Looks good ,do you have to remove the roll bar to get the centre console off ? Is that bit on top a add on ?

I can shift it backwards a couple of inches if need be. But, yes, if I want to remove the centre element completely, roll bar out.

In 2-years, have had no need, other than the mod, as seen, to the original.

Definite firming of rear with roll bar, which allows a softer damper setting for less tramp on the green light.

This picture just goes to show that the original TR Lane bar is not fit for purpose!

His nwer design made to fit my car.

I have also been thinking of a roll bar, two questions:- Does it create additional wind noise and does the tubular frame transmit road noise from the chassis around the roll bar?

No to both.

Id say no to wind noise but mine did amplify the noise of the fuel pump!
So you probably are getting a bit more road noise

From physics I think that the answer has to be yes to both. Whether it's significant is another matter. I've not known anyone base their decision on this aspect before but you live and learn.

I won't be basing my decision on these factors, I was just curious as much as anything and wondering if I could fill the tubular members with expanding foam prior to fitment, if a lot of road noise was transferred. However, based on feedback so far, I wouldn't waste my time with this exercise.
Thanks for all of your comments.

I certainly didn't notice any increase in noise although let's face it, with the engine noise it's probably impossible to tell!

If anyones interested I'll do some roof up shots to get the general idea of intrusion etc.

The fuel pump was probably only noticeable as you hear it before the motor fires up.

Your probably correct on that, mine is quite noticable.
