Don't know what to do about this.

Long story short I wrote off my old 450 in December (ice and over enthusiasm caught me out surprisingly quickly).
Anyway got a good settlement and have a fantastic 500 which is far better than the old car so all well for me

I know my car was bought by a Breaker in Northumberland because I was able to negotiate the return of my stereo in return for the service history.

Anyway the engine from my car is now on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TVR-4-5-ENGINE4-V8-285-b...

Only thing is it now seems to have lost 20,000 miles. The breaker has it down as 33k on the clock. It was nearer 54k when I crashed it and there was some damage to the cooling system. I can't help but feel angry that someone may end up buying what they think is a lowmileage engine when clearly it's not as advertised. I know there is very little I can do but maybe someone thinking of buying it will see this post. Just annoys me when people are less than honest as it always worries me when buying a used car.

A breaker clocking a car, never nono

Breakers are probably the most honest upstanding citizens in the country yes

I can't see them doing something like that nono

You could report it to VOSA, but they won't believe you either, or at least they won't be the slightest bit interested.

It's criminal!

Agreed - I'm happy to buy spare parts from a breaker but wouldn't touch an engine or whole car.
Anyone who does so really has to go in with eyes wide open.

I am always 100% honest in all my dealings personal and business and it just irked me that someone is trying it on (even if it fits the stereotype)

Just send the advert, a copy of your last MOT, and a letter to the police in Northumberlandshire

And you are surprised by this !!!

given the history on the Crashed Sagaris, it would seem to be the tip of a very big iceberg

Buyer Beware is the slogan with any breakers.

It's only the engine. Very much buyer beware sadly, though it is galling it's being advertised as "low milage".

IS the seller the same breaker who got your service history?
Yes

No I'm not surprised in the slightest but as others have said it just pisses me off when people have no compunction about scamming others. Sadly it is all to common. My motive for posting was to bring the advert to peoples attention as I'm aware there have been other issues in the past.

  • chuckle* I had some door cards and other trim recently from the a certain breakers (obviously it wouldn't be right of me to say that it was the same one as being discussed here or whether it was a different one).
They wouldn't send me photos of the trim before I bought them (I asked and was told they don't have time to do that) but was "in good nick and if I say they're good then that should be enough" ... They're sat in my living room now and they have chunks taken out of (and splits in) the vinyl to the point where it's not worth recolouring them and I may as well just get my old ones retrimmed. I don't have the time or the inclination to get into a p*ss*ng contest with them so if anyone wants a set of Mk 2 door trims with ashtray holes and the later style mirror control I have a set that I can't use.

Gotta love 'em!

If you have the later style mirror control button I will take this off your hand. Mine has the early style black plastic switch which is pretty ugly

Set up bogus eBay account, buy it. Mess him around fr a while asking him to verify the mileage. He'll eventually get bored and relist it. Repeat.

They have a pet lackey that works for them that resides on here and pops up now and them with some charming retorts to anyone who would dare question them ......

Can't believe you bought anything off these jokers. Plus, if anyone told me they didn't have the time to even photo the items I would have just politely told them to go.......you know the rest.

It's not a straight swap - the black switch (which is what I have) controls the mirrors directly. The silver switch has a ribbon cable connector that must go to a separate control box.

I have been thinking about trying to make up my own control box as that would get rid of some wiring clutter in the door but I doubt I ever will.

I was told "If you want 'em then you want em - if you don't then don't" ...

... as it is I was just wanting to sort the cat chewed trim out that has been p*ss*ng me off now for two years so I took a chance.

Of course I'm sure they'd be more than happy to have them back if I chased it up.
