Oh and one big point with Plastidip

ON NO ACCOUNT USE THE PRIMER - Unless it's a permanent colour change you're after.

That stuff is amazing - but IMPOSSIBLE to remove... I wonder if that's what you're refering to?

I should probably apologise for changing the thread direction...

Good luck in the hunt for a Chimaera, a 430BV would be great but i think (as has been said) they're all pre-serps.

Do you care about the facelift/pre-facelift front/rear?

OK, idiot post of the day, explain the term "pre serps" to me please?

I actually like the older style rear lights more than new ones, the rest of the changes, either or, not bothered.

That's not a silly question, I'm sorry I shouldn't have abbreviated. "Pre-serp" should be "Pre Serpentine", the "Serpentine" bit refering to the changeover to the later single ancilliary belt driving the water pump, alternator, power steering and A/C (where fitted) as opposed to the previous arrangement with seperate v-belts.

TVR was a tiny bit peculiar in that you can have a mix and match of body styles, so it's possible to have (like mine for examlpe) a facelift front, older back (flat numberplate with lights behind it), I have the longer boot lip and had the "Fiesta" lights (now changed to "Lexus Style" but the original customer could mix and match and TVR themselves sometimes used whatever they had to hand... I also have the "silver buttons" to get into the car as opposed to the button under the mirror and ine is a 1997 which was one of the years they started to use that mentry method :-)

There isn't really a "standard" Chimaera as the options were so varied...

Thanks Jules,
well that explains a lot to me. I like the look of the darker rear lenses in comparison to the visible round lights under the clear cover.... Time to start really paying some attention to exactly what I am looking at both mechanically and externally.

I just don't understand why you didn't just buy what you wanted and get it wrapped.
Either you wanted a TVR or you wanted a white car.
Seems to me you wanted a 911.

Well it's a pretty basic equation of economics. A good wrap circa 2K, a few bits sorted on any new purchase, for my piece of mind 2K, before you know it, you have blown a budget of value vs reality. As you get older you tend to be a little more patient, buy the right car for the right reasons, not a good car that can be made into my personal "right car". Originality is paramount in any vehicle, wrap or no wrap, keep it original...

Wrapping is for Xmas or Essex, unless you are 20

Hi

I have a 1994 Chimaera resprayed in Audi Ibis White with a red roof and burgundy/grey interior, I'm picking it up tonight having new cam and lifters, water pump etc etc having been replaced.

I'm at work so don't have any pictures to hand but I have them on my ipad at home. If you click on my user name you may see a picture, I previously added pictures on a post here a couple of months ago.

If interested let me know.

Best regards

Graeme

I really do like that white car, that's the exact thing I wanted, but like him, I need a work machine for a new business
