I'm surprised there doesn't seem to be an 'off the shelf' breather kit for highly tuned heavy breathing RV8's scratchchin Such a kit might include additional flame trap for passenger side rocker cover, air/oil separator, catch tank, hoses and brackets etc.... Are we re-inventing the wheel each time we get lots of oil in the plenum on a well tuned motor??? (oversimplified I know, doesn't account for underlying causes etc)

It's not like high tuned heavy breathing RV8's is a new thing.... Or is it????

il leaks laugh and if still using the Rover PCV system a plenum filled with oil eek followed by a James Bond style smoke screen frown with big power increases with the RV8 I would also shy away from the original PCV system its far to easy to overload its function wink my opinion is keep the stock system till it cant cope with the increased crankcase breathing any more (tuned/more power) because it does a good job otherwise in so much as it keeps the engine oil cleaner for longer thus keeping the inards cleaner scratchchin

ore CR more crankcase pressure Dave for kick off scratchchin then factor in increased RPM for longer periods etc i.e track-days frown forced induction & nitrous confused I'm pro PCV anyway never liked open breathers or catch tank's doing an impression of Ivor The Engine when hot on idle anyway laugh

The example I referred to is running 10.78:1... Can't see many 5 litres apart from full race lumps that will be even near that (we took the block down to minimal safe piston clearance v the heads using std 500 crank/rods/pistons).

RPM with throttle open SHOULD create less vacuum if the PCV is plumbed correctly and just maintain the relatively small vacuum (few psi) created from idle. I think it all foo bars if the case / inlet is too open and results in massive airflow through the crankcase pulling all & sundry with it.

There was some. I guessed it was just a little getting by the valve guides on gearchanges.
Nothing much to worry about.

Nothing too interesting happening.

I spoke to GAZ regarding minor rattles that I can hear and they are machining up some tighter spec ally spacers for the mounting bolts for my Monos, good guys!

New garage well on its way, base in, reinforced piers built and topped off by a reinforced concrete ring beam.
Walls will be concrete block infill.
Size of garage is deceptive, 6.5x6.10m.
Roof will be pitched to match other garage on Jan 06.

I bought a 3.5 tonne 2 post lift that is residing behind the faithful Landy and will be installed as soon as the roof is on.

Lucky my neighbour is a sparks!

I'll be open for a chim get together again and anyone who wants a tinker on their car using the lift is welcome.

Watch this space..........

Sometimes you must think, 'where did it all go wrong'.

Quite the opposite Mac, mostly it's gone right and the wrong things I quickly forget about, that's man thinking for you.

No 3 son is a qualified mechanic so it'll get used, in fact I'll probably have to arm wrestle him for "ramp" time laugh

scratchchin

Just had a measure up I can get the bottom of the car 7ft high before it hits the boot and bonnet ,the roof is pitched so higher in the middle .

Where do I get a lift and what type ,can you get them single phase ? Does the floor need anything done to it ?

I must be missing something here? Search on Fleabay for a single phase lift… 30 seconds later:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/car-van-2-POST-CAR-LIFT-...

There are loads of used ones, so you could always get a 3 phase converter:

PS… your 'second' garage is going to be awesome Peter… I'm well jealous!!!
