Chimaera Standard Tyre Sizes
Discussion
GinG15 has their location as United Kingdom so that doesn't apply. Since TVR themselves changed the tyres put on the cars during production, on the same wheels, 205/60/15, 205/55/15 or 225/50/15 will be OK. MY current car had 205/50/15 on the front when I bought it, these are the wrong size.
To suggest that classic cars won't be allowed on the road is ridiculous. Thousands of cars in the UK run non-original wheels and tyres, cross ply anybody? As long as they are legal, it isn't an issue. Cars made up to 1977 won't even have to be submitted for an MoT test after May this year.

having seen now that me speed index on my front tyres is wrong. checked for new tyres....unfortunately nne of the typical tyre webshops is listing a 205/50r15 with a speed index higher than V...and now?
for ceretain reasson, which i do not want, nor need to explain, i MUST fit the correct speed index on the ORIGINAL wheels
any alternatives in terms of size, which have the same circumference than the ones listed above?
Going back to the original ('96-on) fitment of 205/55/15 and subsequent re-setting of suspension height an option? Bridgestone RE002 is still available in W, as well as Toyo T1R through TVR Parts.for ceretain reasson, which i do not want, nor need to explain, i MUST fit the correct speed index on the ORIGINAL wheels

"for ceretain reasson, which i do not want, nor need to explain, i MUST fit the correct speed index on the ORIGINAL wheels"
why i´m typing such a sentence? and than get recommendations to use tyres with the INCORRECT speed index...
b4 you type any answers, read the words somebody is posting!!!!
can somebody post a link to a shop which is listing 205/55R15 with the correct index? as i dont find one.
somebody told me that its (legally) possible to fit 205/50 ones instead..
those would be indeed available, not cheap, but affordable

I've just last week become the proud new owner of a 2000 yr, Chimaera originally delivered to the Japanese market. It has R15 front wheels and R16 rear. I see the sieedo is (in kilometers for Japan) 5 km less than GPS speed at 80km (50 MPH).
The tire size in the rear where the speed sensor is - 225/50
I wonder if it's possible to correct the speed sensor? Strikes me the senor is calibrated for the pre 1996 tire sizes.
