The big boys appear to be making anything from 64 HP per litre to db484bhpv8's very impressive 71.69hp per litre without NoS.

Excellent, never realised my engine was that good really NA.
I suppose i am far too used to the nitrous. I would like to see another 20 or 30 lb/ft in the midrange for road use but i have to be happy with the way the car runs. And it does give me 27+ mpg on a run if i limit my top speed to 90ish.

The heads do look really nicely ported i have to say.

Yours is producing good numbers Dave for a 4ltr. Are you sure the heads havent been tickled a bit. That Stealth cam will no doubt boost your peak power.
The heads are definitely standard TVR (later serp 4.0 litre fair) mate, which means their not really anything more than range Rover heads from what I understand?

Rob & I had a good close look at them when the Stealth cam went in, and he pronounced them to be standard heads.

I'm tempted by better heads for 'Ol Gasbag' but the blower makes them a bit pointless.

I think I'm better off putting my head money into an SC-Power kit.

What's interesting is the big capacity RV8s with lots of work only seem to make 2hp more per litre than our baby V8s?

The conclusion to me seems to be if the smaller capacity RV8s saw similar attention to the heads ect, they would actually deliver better power per litre.

Could this mean our little revy engines have the potential to be more efficient than the big boy engines?

Of course I'm just trying to find something positive to cling on to here wink

All that's going to be pretty irrelevant when say Peter's 5.5 litre monster roars past showing us what 100 extra horse power looks like in a 1060kg TVR.

These Chimaeras that make over 350hp must be totally bonkers thumbup

The efficiency point is interesting, but there's really no substitute for a bigger engine.

Well actually smaller one with a supercharger does all right too wink

Here you go, standard 450, fully decatted & ACT induction hose & elbow but otherwise untouched, 68,000 miles (rebuilt at 55,000)

That's impressive. I do wonder what my 450 (recent rebuild, stealth cam, smooth elbow but that is all) is pushing out.

I will RR it when I get the time.

I think at would do me just fine......

What is the all in cost for something like this from a standard car? It's at least 2 years away but I do like to window shop.

This was my old car. 240 BHP and 270 lb. Much better fuelling and felt as quick at the top of the rev range when driving it hard. Day to day, the 360lb/ft of the new beast makes it feel a lot swifter!

I'm not actually expecting an answer but ballparks would be nice for us poor 'unmodified' folk.

Karl, its just that I think this particular example is a complex subject regarding cost, but that's Nick's shout. I strongly suggest checking out Engineer1949's (John's) thread on the build. to say it's impressive is an understatement!

ChimpOnGas, you clearly see things others don't wink Being a modest kind of guy I am not into the willy waving thing, and like to keep a low and unassuming profile whistle

Seriously though, I would love to see a 400bhp NA motor turn up.... anyone???

not bad considering only just over 300 lb/ft.
The Mickey Thompsons have to be worth a few tenths
