So which engines can't have a Stealth cam?
Any if it fits, could work in a stock 4.0 but you will need to do the measurements first!

Thanks guys! My 450's cam is showing early signs of wear, according to the last dyno run I had (and I'll be having another soon to monitor how quickly the wear is progressing).

So I'm starting to ponder what I'll put in there. It has developed very good numbers on SRR's rollers: 276 bhp about 4 years ago, and 265 bhp about a year ago. So I don't want to lose power, but at the same time the very last thing I want is to lose my engine's very well-mannered driving characteristics: no shunting at all.

Is there any risk of a well-mannered engine developing a shunting habit if putting a stealth cam in, for example? I have read opinions that the 14CUX struggles with longer duration cams.

Also, I notice from the V8D web site that both the MC1 and Stealth are recommended to be fitted with double valve springs, which I don't believe a standard 450 would have. Is that correct, and to what extent does it matter?

I had the Typhoon fitted to my 4.6 with standard single spring Range Rover heads and a 72mm plenum.

That made 275 on SRR.

Absolutely no shunting whatsoever.

Derek, (DBV8) has the same cam.

I believe the stealth produces similar figures.

Thanks Peter. It will be very interesting to find out what cam the engine currently has, because its bhp figures imply it may not be as standard as I thought. There's nothing in the history file to say it's already had a replacement; maybe it had something different straight from the factory?

Rob at V8D said a Stealth wouldn't work with my standard 400 and advised I bought the MC1, which I did.

Was going to put a stealth in my standard 450, do they have double springs? Was also going to get the heads worked.

The 450 has dual springs.

Ah, thanks. I was wrong; I thought it was only the 500.
