Something constructive at long last. Dumped the coolant on the MX5 and replaced with new stuff. Even used DI water as per the instrucions. This used to be a no-no in the past. Clearly not now.

It will be interesting to hear your comments Richard on your new wishbones. like quite afew people on here who have converted across to tubular wishbones, I have been using top and bottom tubular wishbones for 5 years now, and with running a 5mm wider track at the front because of the AP caliper upgrade and 16" spider wheels, my ride quality at the front noticeably firmed up, even with the nitrons on a softer setting, the front end did not bounch as much as my standard set up, it will be interesting to hear your pro's and cons with your conversion.

I have had to machine 2 spacers for my front set up, one behind the Brake Disc to align in central to the caliper, and another one to fit the wheel hub, so the TVR Spiders can locate on it as the oringinal was too same a diameter. both spacers were fitted perfectly clean and have no oil or copper slip on it at all, as any uneven surface will transfer to the disc and cause uneven wear and possibly warping, especially the spacer behind the disc, but not the wheel spacer. I have no problems in 5 years when removing it for its annual cleaning.

Thanks for the advice Mark, did you also fit poly bushes when you fitted the wishbones? When I originally fitted the WMS calipers & larger discs I had to make up some spacers for the calipers. At the moment everything seems to run true but the real test will be when the new wheels go on, I post up again when that happens.

Yes Richard I had it polybused all round. I have S/Steel heat defectors above my wishbones under the manifolds to stop heat soak, and thus far in 5 years have had no problems with them.

I had to have longer hub studs fitted as my wheel nuts could not achieve a full five turns on the spider wheels before they tightened up, something to look for when fitting bigger discs and wheels.

Excuse me but may I ask where to find these tubular front wish bones?

Am making a list up of these upgrades in case they are needed.

Tvr parts do them..

http://tvr-parts.com/tvr-parts/by-model/chimaera/b...

Didn't realise that they were twice the price of the box section ones. Do you have to change all 4 at once or can you have tube uppers and standard lowers ect?

Got my lowers from Stra8 Six, and my uppers were a prototype
Which we made ourselves.
