It will be in soon hopefully. Just got to remove all the cats, get the injectors back from cleaning, change all the fuel hoses, change all the engine bay nuts/bolts to shiney new ones. Swap out the crappy purple silicon hoses. Get the rockers and inlet manifolds painted. Change valley gasket while I'm at it
I want to make the wiring loom though, I like doing the work and you learn as you go along. Plus I will route things exactly where I want them and make up the HT leads so they are the correct length.
Sending the ECU to Phil for some upgrades tomorrow i think.

Was at Mat Smith's yesterday, he was just giving the new disks and pads he fitted last week on the front brakes a final re-check before tonight's track evening at Snetterton.

Mat busy on the brakes, car about 8 feet up in the air as usual (Mat likes to work at the correct height - it's just him that isn't the correct height. Any of you coming to Burleigh this weekend will meet him. You can't mistake him, he's 6 ft 7 and still fits in a Chim).

So there I am wondering around underneath the car as usual and I spot a drive shaft boot with a big split in it, clearly newly split. Lucky! So phoned around the motor factors, located some boots and got them fitted by 6.30. Thanks Mat!! Stayed late just for me.

Oh, as well as passing the great man the correct tools, and finding his missing circlip crimpers, I also changed a headlight bulb. At this rate I will soon get my Doctorate of Engineering. Well, if Clarkson qualifies, even a numpty like me with a penchant for fixing things with a hammer can qualify? bounce

Refitted the returned NTR suspension units, hooray!

Test drove this evening, slightly different clonking, boo!

Ah well, skanky, (quiet) Gaz Golds go back on and Monday is row time furious

Starting to hate this car even though it's not the cars fault.

Saw Spend's workshop and picked up a pulley for my V8 Rover.

Thanks Dave but it hasn't solved the problem unfortunately.

Proud to say I fixed my oil pressure gauge. Jacked up the car, crawled under the front on my back, found sender wire, crimped the terminal a bit and pushed it back on. Jobs a goodun. Now got to find the worrying clank from the front of the chassis before the Rutland Rumble tomorrow.

I'm really enjoying learning as I along, first time I've done anything on a v8.
Does anyone know where to get a nice rad expansion filler cap? I've seen new blue ones online but want something chrome or polished?

I think over winter I'd like to strip it down completely but for now I just want to get rid of the horrible purple thats everywhere and see how this new decat manifold sounds. Luckily the precats had already been removed.

I hope that engine came out for a strip & rebuild, I would hate to think of all the grit & st that got into it working like that...

Cleanliness is essential as soon as you break into the engine, anally clean up before you enter... maybe pull off rocker gear to close valves ... bag cables (they hold tons of crud)... cover as much as possible... take as much care to keep clean as you can...

& particularly how a picture says a thousand words so other owners think it is the way to do things......

It was hit with an industrial vac before anything came of then hit again after the photo above
The valley was done aswell before it came off
So no twigs old nuts leaves grit and gravel got any where near the open lump

That said it wasn't as clinical as It would have bean on an engine stand being striped to the bra & nickers

New dizzy cap, rotor arm, spark plug extenders and ECU temp sensor.

Some of the old spark plugs extenders were looking well worn and very loose on the spark plug.

I also decided to put some G1 on my new windscreen. When it rains, I'll see how effective it is.

Oh, and gave it a little clean but didn't go mad as a respray beckons later this week.

For Samy. Sprayed the calliper mounting brackets for the brake conversion (big up front and disc conversion for rear). Also sprayed the new wing mirrors.

Also sprayed the brake ducts for the Beast and prepped the replacement from wing.

Swapped Samy and Tamy around in the drive as Tamy has some miles to do over the next few days.
