That alternator needs work .. who did the Y piece mod ? .
Alternator is new, but i've stripped it down tonight to paint it matt black.
Mate of mine who builds these kit cars, luckily he works next door to my place. So if anyone wants theirs doing I can get you in touch, a lot cheaper option than the stainless and if you've got an early car like mine then Clive doesn't make them.

Yeah that's them mate, it's next door to my work now which is handy.
Luke did my centre section and this de-cat, lovely work on the decat, note to self = practise welding a LOT more.

I've always quite fancied the idea of a kit car like those but the Chim is enough for the time being especially as it was another 10 hours working on it today. Exhaust manifolds off, fuel lines removed, carbon canister out, alternator stripped down (although i might just buy a chrome one). Other bits and bobs.

Did they fabricate the Y piece in situ ? Its only has to be a nats Bcensoredk out and it wont`t fit ! You will have more chance with the early Y piece.

What material/finish is that Pupp? It looks nice.

Daz - not in situ but it would have been done on a welding table or jig like when he did the centre section. I'll find out when I come to fit it but I'm sure it will be ok

It's chequer rolled/embossed stainless. Possibly a tad brighter than the pic makes it look but has some clear figure/relief to it. Standard blanks available from TVR Mads; there's a pic of the matching radio panel a couple of pages back. wasn't 100% sure to start with but it is growing on me although it's a sod to open additional holes in

I must have a start button on my dashboard. Is it straightforward to mod the wiring for it Pupp?

I know old Goaty won't agree but a start button is seriously cool.

I must have one.

Nothng too involved provided you can splice and solder, I remember there was an issue just with having an iron man enough for the job on one of the cables involved ... there is a bit of logic needed too in that you want (or at least I did when I first rigged the thing) an interlock that prevents it working if inadvertently pressed whilst the engine is running. Also mine (as currently in car) illuminates when available for use (ie when engine not running) but goes out with the oil light. There's a couple of 'how to' guides around on-line now that have appeared since I first did mine years ago. Will be looking at this again shortly in case there's a simpler circuit possible so will post up a link if I find anything useful.

Found you the perfect starter button at Burghley, Chilli - have bought it for you, so do PM me your address.

It has two terminals on the back for the wiring.....and a notice on the front to avoid the need for an interlock hehe

Hold tight please..... ding ding whistle

Took off all 4 Nitrons and returned to sender for analysis.

Returned 2 x Gaz Golds back to the 4.6 where they were borrowed from.

Loaded 4.6 on a trailer ready to go off to "The Man" for a new complete hood.

Walked the dags, posted here and looking casually at the coy bottle of Burgandy peeking out from the rack, it's no use hiding, I know where you are laugh
