Thought so.
Alex is a real hero of the TVR scene. He drops everything to help friends and new owners alike. Nothhing is too much trouble for him.

When I first had my car in 2012 he was at home, bored, recovering from an appendectomy. But he invited me, someone he had never met, more than twice his age, over to his house, fixed the reception on my new ICE unit, checked the car over, gave me an extra 30 bhp, condemned the fuel pipes and sent me home with a fire extinguisher.

He spent an entire day three months later sorting out and soldering my wiring when I had had mice in the car.

He rings me regularly just to see how things are going. A true friend, selfless, never a thought of getting anything in return. One of life's good guys.

He needs to get that car of his finished. It's been off the road for two years now. Alex, if you read this, just ask. There are a lot of people out here who count you as a great friend, who owe you and want to help you get that car on the road, if only to tan yo' skinny ass at the Pod.

Yep, I couldn't agree more, to be fair we have built up a great friendship, through TVR ownership and help each other when we can smile

Turbo off, drain tightened, turbo back on, rad out (needs re-finning but no leaks evident, charge cooler and BOV found a home (brackets for charge cooler might be interesting - is no more nails ok?

Removed a Tuscan pod to have it refurbed.

Removed n/s shocks as they were both leaking. O/s coming off tomorrow.

Need to order oil, plugs and filters ready for its service.

I'm liking this, the charge cooler brakets should be ok, can you come off the front of the head where the pas / dummy pulley goes ?

Thanks - to get it up and running, I'm thinking of two straps/struts up from the head and/or maybe the distributor clamp stud, with another strap and a turnbuckle over the top from the wing side to one of the plenum top bolts. Those plus the hose location should hold it although once full of water it will have some mass. There's loads of space underneath for a shield to reflect manifold heat away.

Finally some time in the garage today

Spent the morning try to fix my rev counter to work from the megasquirt tacho output and trying to get a good map for the MOT.

Then started removing the manifolds to replace with de-catted ones. Top bolts and front two lower bolts removed on each side. But realised I'll need to remove starter motor and exhaust to get to the 2 rear lower bolts. Unbolted the exhaust but it seems to be siezed on to the Y piece. Any tips for separating the exhaust from the Y Piece?

Also have a new ACT exhaust to fit so not too worried about wrecking the old one but would sooner keep it in one piece if possible.

Have you undone the bolt that's holds the front of the exhaust to the engine just above the joint with the Y piece? Easy to miss it, I've done it myself!

All bolts undone including the one on the engine. Sprayed with penetrating fluid last night so will give it another go this morning.

Well not yesterday, but since Tuesday till Friday!, The poor old girl would not rev above 4000rpm, I went through all the ignition system, swapped everything and still no change, checked fuel pump, ok.
My next plan was to check the distributer as max advance at 4000ish, But after a call to 'Power', I was advised it could be he AFM, so nicked my friends of his XJ6 and she ran perfect,
Put a new (to me) AFM on and she is back to her normal self although smelling a little rich when starting or idling for a while, Then to top things off, on Tuesday night, after chasing my tail I raised the targa section and the bloody rear screen split (about 10").
Anyway went out for a lovely run with a club and all the misery and woes from the week vanished into smiles and laughter.

Thanks guys,

Pull and twist technique worked worked eventually with more penetrating fluid.

Only three bolts to go. One above the engine mount on the near side is a real PITA. Hangover isn't helping either.
