frustrating day

Prior to fitting the exhaust checked the manifold bolts and realised i'd stupidly fitted the bolts with both the standard washers and the nord locks when replacing the manifolds. what a numpty grumpy

Anyway refitted all the bolts and then the ACT exhaust, easy enough but the back pipes are a bit fiddly if you don't have much ground clearance. Started the car but have a leak where manifolds clamp to the NS y-piece. Tried to get this sorted but just cant get the both manifolds to fit correctly at the same time. Saw another thread suggesting using a ratchet strap so ill give that a go tomorrow. On a positive note the ticking noise seems to have gone.

Finally managed to fix my rev counter as well, using the tachfix module from Shaun, although its only temporarily wired up from a separate 12v supply. Just need to find a switched live from under the dashboard.

Well, we'll see, thanks smile

But the much shorter air runs will hopefully compensate for the weight penalty...
I like the approach & thinking. As long as its got sound thinking behind the design,
Those brave enough to do things a little differently are the groundbreakers and should be encouraged. Wishing you all the success you're looking for. Dave.

Charge cooler mounts done today in 6mm ally - picked up two points on water pump face and one on head. Rock solid and just under bonnet line whilst being well away from exhaust so pretty happy but will have another go at boost pipe as should be possible to reduce number of clamped joints by using a straight pipe angled diagonally and two 45 degree silicone elbows. Also messed about with a JE 'straight-out' thermostat housing as getting a tad congested now but needs a different style of stat as the one I have won't go under the cover (the bridge is too wide).

Excellent work bloke clap

Great stuff Gary (Pupp) looking forward to seeing the end result in person. Today, I have finally finished my installation, still a couple of tweaks needed but it's running well, pretty smooth & idling steady at around 850 rpm. Just need to bleed clutch & brakes again (tomorrow) then should all be ok.

We'll done Richard, looks great.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on how it goes vs. it's previous NA format.

Thanks Chaps, Dyno run intended in the next couple of weeks for a comparison, I'll post accordingly. Daz all shiny bits for SC installation supplied by SC Power, it's just a matter of being precise with the spec. you decide on, David & Colin are happy to discuss at length, but do your homework, double check everything and be clear what you are setting out to achieve from the start - I'm no expert but I've learnt a hell of a lot during this process & happy to share experiences if anyone else is thinking about the same route.
I have to say that what Gary has achieved is far, far more ambitious and impressive than my off the shelf option, however I'm happy with the results so far.

Keep the Faith & Use the Force !

Any the wiser on the vibration Alan? Looks pretty advanced tinkering to me! smile

Steady session this evening; an hour or so stripping out and making sense of the sticky horror story that passes for the electrics in the nose. Note to self that although self-amalgamating tape is very useful stuff for weather sealing connectors, don't use it where it can come into contact with air filter oil.... yuk!

Plan devised for mounting/hanging charge cooler heat exchanger that doesn't require loss of aux lights (I like them), so happy with that.

Those engine bays are world class, as is that Rover Alan, very very interesting.
Some serious engineering going on on this thread. Awesome

Nice of you to say so Gary but I'm just spannering, yours is proper engineering and I take my hat off to you.

No news on the vibration as yet but the engine stripdown should be later this week.

I now have an oven ready RV8

nice & clean inside:

Cheers Alun!
