Finally finished mitring the wastegate link into the downpipe (Black and Decker powerfile proving invaluable, what a great little tool when paired with decent Zirconia butt jointed bands) - so that's all with the man with the TIG set right now. Added some hose retention dimple-beads to ally boost pipes, and to a stainless coolant pipe with 'Oyster' plumbers pliers. Got the 'right' settings into the ECU for the GM 3 bar map sensor I've installed.

Cadwell is quite a tight track?. l have never been on it, but watched a TVRCC track day there. I suppose it evens out the contest abit to car set up quality and driver ability and not just raw power !!!
It's basically corners, with the odd short straight thrown in to catch your breath. Great track day circuit.
Were you there this summer, last autumn, or when?

just looked at the picture advertising them. They look good and some shiny nitrons in the background. But they could have at least fitted them to a decent looking chassis smile .

As literally just collected from the welder - the WG link pipe and down pipe being the final parts to be joined. That one joint took some hours to mitre.

About a 10 minute job to hang it all back on the car, then onto revising the cross-brace.

Very nice Gary.
I have yet to HEAR/SEE a vid of a turbocharged RV8. Do you have any?

Thanks - there are a couple in the usual place but nothing that illuminating that I have seen. Best was linked to from a thread on here; not of a Tiv but a rod of some sort built by a Scandinavian chap. That was going very well and sounding fruity

Looks great Gary, really looking forward to seeing this. Nice angles on the wastegate too, easy 450+bhp coming your way soon thumbup

Looking great gary, and echo Neals comments on the thoughts about wastegate angles.
As for the sound, mine sounds like a de-catted car at tickover and still the lurvely V8 sound when driving. Turbo's don't mute the sound of a V8, think about Subaru's with flat four, they don't loose their distinctive sound, in fact more so as there is a bigger bang going on inside.
We need more turbo V8's bounce turbo's are the future.

Thanks for the encouragement all... Just cleaned up the inside of the joint with new favourite toy, the power file, and bolted it together hopefully for the last time before start up. Anyone looked at the price of hose clips recently!!

Yes, the tig welder should have fed argon into one end of the pipe and plugged the other end, just leaving a pin prick hole to allow argon to pass through. This would have stopped oxygen effecting the inside of the weld, leaving a soot finish inside, and would also helped with Penetration. YOU WOULD HAVE NOT NEEDED TO CLEAN THE INSIDE, AS YOUR TAKING ALL THE STRENGTH OF THE WELD AWAY BY GRINDING!!!!

No need to shout; I wasn't grinding weld but the apron edges of the hole let into the down pipe. Don't want anything too prone to glowing. Most of the welds were back purged but that one wasn't; still pretty clean nonetheless. Fine for an exhaust
