Greased up the window runners with silicone grease, oiled the electric window motors and cleaned up the spade terminals on the window motor connections. The windows go up and down like never before, like a proper car! They even stop with a thud once they get to the top, instead of seemingly only just managing to make it, as they were before! Very happy with that.

I also noticed one of my original Pioneer speakers has a small tear in the edge. Time to replace them with some JL Audios then smile

I cooked a sample of silicone hose... first with a heat gun and then on a cooker hob, whilst monitoring with an infra red pyrometer - saw 300deg C transient and held approx 200 minimum for over 10 minutes (got bored then) with no apparent failure so guess that will do for now for the coolant feeds on the tubby smile

I've not played with my own car in ages, every time I think of picking a spanner up I end up being roped into working on something else. Been on a mates cosworthed engined escort to go tear around silverstone tomorrow. .

Have discovered a spare pair of cosworth callipers in the corner of the garage though biggrin

Sounds like you're getting close Gary, looking forward to the great launch, bottle of bubbly tied to a rope ?

Tow rope maybe Richard hehe

These were taken tonight after getting the coolant return in and routed/heat shielded. Still need to sort the swirl pot location after re-jigging the bolt in cross member and squeeze in the air intake/filter somehow (trying to avoid cutting holes, at least for now). Also the swirl pot needs fitting (second pic looks like it's been dispensed with but will be using it in a modified form), and breathing will be revised - initially a 19mm line from rear of O/S rocker cover through decent sealed catch tank/separator to vent into air intake close to compressor for some vacuum. If that proves insufficient as I suspect will be the case, then will be looking at using the dizzy plug point to take another line from, maybe with a vac pump and another separator.

Yes, I know it looks like an explosion in a blue silicone factory and, yes, I know there is a lot of tidying still to be done smile

That's the charge cooler Daz, it has a heat exchanger connected to it that sits in the nose. It may soak a bit but should still be well cooler than the compressed air from the turbo and should be fairly stable. It's all about relative differences, and the air circuit is loads shorter than with a conventional intercooler so hopefully the turbo will not have to work as hard to achieve the same boost. There are pros and cons with both methods but this will be monitored well so I'll know what it's doing (you'll see thermocouples either side of the tank)

Is the coolant pumped through and do you need a expansion tank . Must be a seperate system .

Yes, it's a separate circuit and is pumped.

Would the flow of air in to the plenum slow down through charge cooler ? I`m sure some of the lS engines have the plenum and charge cooler incorporated ..

If it's flowing from the plenum to the charge cooler Daz, I'll have put the turbo on backwards... But, yes, it would be technically possible to combine the two functions. Just way more involved on the fabrication front than I wanted to go. Why not show us how you'd do it?

Er, my car doesn't have A/C. Anyway, this thread is about what you did in the garage, so what have you done recently?
