You seeing much goop collecting in the cans? More I research, more it seems some sort of assisted evacuation is essential with boost
Hi mate, Next to nothing in catch tanks. Leak down test on number 1 cylinder shows no leakage [3%] which is fantastic but puzzles me further. Need to do the others.

Trouble is mac you can have a good compression ring seal (break-in) yet poor oil control pack function frown a leak down test may prove inconclusive here scratchchin this is a real bd after all the time you have lavished on your motor too rolleyes

Finished off fitting the afterburner lights, fixing some new rubber seals around the housing to make them a nice snug fit and wiring them for dual reversing lamps and fog lamps. Nothing technical but satisfying.

Took the opportunity while I was there to clean up the boot and re-fix the carpets nicely.

And tested it all with the engine running - I know I know, no need to run the engine to test lights, but she does sound so good smile

Only issue now I've done that yesterday, wifey thinks I should do the garden today during the typhoon....

Ah, that's where the spare wheel is supposed to go. Mine just leans up against the tank paperbag

Had my first go at polishing yesterday. Bought a rotary polisher and thought i'd test it on Nans Corsa because it was in a terrible faded state.
It took hours but it was worth it with how happy she was, and now I get to tackle the Chim when there is some decent weather.

From quadconversions http://www.quadconversions.com/tvr_chimaera_and_ce...

Not cheap at just under 300 delivered, but academic as I managed to snag their last set. They will run another batch if they get a demand for it. Was just necessary for me as my original units were broken.

Ever thought about thermal wrapping the intercooler pipework? As it runs over the y piece it might be advantageous to try to keep the internal passing air cooler.

Got revised bottom hose from rad on and clamped (eventually - swan neck further inboard and it's a bit tight getting at the joint with it it from above, especially when you manage to wrap the hose clip around a PAS rack hard line too by working blind; harrumph). Pretty much sorted first stage breather install - 19mm run from billet flame trap at rear of o/s rocker cover to separator/catch tank next to alternator, to air inlet to compressor (when I install the port). Mushroom bleed left in situ but large and small vac points on plenum deleted (small one re-used for MAP sensor and BOV signal). Hopefully the separator and flame trap will keep wet residues getting into the intake to a minimum - in time, will have to cut away a corner of the bonnet catch/wiper spindle box to get a better route off the flame trap exit but that can be a winter job. Also some general tidying of pipe and cable runs. 90% there now maybe smile

Well, there's certainly scope for that because it's essentially the infamous bolt-in cross-member to sort - I simply don't have the option of doing the 'notch' trick due to the physical size of the compressor housing and its upward orientation. I don't think the member does anything more than take compression loadings generated by the shock top mounts, which makes it a little easier to reconfigure but space is very tight now. I do know of at least two cars where the thing has simply been deleted with no apparent ill-effects but that's not the plan (currently) smash

Time!

I can't believe how long I've taken rebuilding the top end of the 5.5 with the Stage 4 heads.

so long setting up the roller rockers to ensure correct spacing, fitting and settings.

Making the neatest installation of pipes, cables, wiring etc.

converting to leccy PS pump, making brackets and rewiring etc.

just waiting for Joolz blended base, (Tuesday) and a remap, (Friday).

Sooooooo looooong!

What made you decide on one of these Peter? I have one but on a far less tuned motor and think it works well.

Joolz said that the power will remain the same but the torque will move up the rev band.

This is a good thing as mine develops 350 torques at 2.5K and to move that up towards the top end is beneficial.

That's a lot of stomp at such low revs, can see it might be an issue exiting corners and islands. biggrin

It's actually really predictable. You can spin up the tyres easily if you are heavy footed but just squeeze the throttle and with superior grip with the R1Rs it just takes off, I'm happy.
