Err, and in English please?Just have a look at the side of your laptop - if it has a slot like I describe then you will be able to use the serial lead - which IIRC you have also lost?
If all you want is the lead that converts, then Brett is a useful man to know - the same Brett you helped me to advise this morning on his Monos.....

I could do with updating the firmware on mine, currently running 2.10p. Is it a straight forward procedure, worried about bricking the ECU. Also looks there's quite few differences in the settings for the latest version, so not sure If I would be able to load up the current tune file, or if I would need to set up a new project?

That is a beautiful car, I saw a one with a 'janspeed'turbo conversion [remember them?] once in the same colour, but couldn't quite raise enough funds for it. angus337 said:

Its very easy always read the attached notes though even if you get a bad flash its only a matter of opening up the case and shifting the jumper although this is very very unlikely you needing to do that I like to keep up with the latest developments so have flashed FW many times on the MS2 in my opinion there are always improvements rather than downsides with later FW and I just love Tuner Studio Also looks there's quite few differences in the settings for the latest version, so not sure If I would be able to load up the current tune file, or if I would need to set up a new project?
For those of you MSers that understand?
For some reason, fitting the new heads must have changed my fuel table .
I know nothing but the fuel table number was 10 in the little box. I changed this to 12.5.
I now have,
12.5 at fast idle, (someone talk me through tweaking this down)
14.5 at low throttle cruise at 70
Floor it in 5th at 70 and it drops to 10.5 and rises as warp speed increases.
I shall wait for a mapping slot and can drive it there. I'm not gonna use it otherwise until professionally tweaked.
Oh, it feels twice as fast as it did before

wanted to have a LS1 in there but german regulations no chance to get that done so it´s a 3.1 stroker with triple 45´s. ripped the interior out for a full refurb and started today to put the rear windows back in with new seals. rear wheel bearings need to be changed and new suspension parts will come in but first the exhaust needs some attention. 3" pipe and only a small silencer meant 118db at 3500rpm i knew the reason now for ear ringing of course chimaera also needs some attention after the corse trip. should prevent myself from buying projects to come back to an easy life

Well you gave me a giggle you could pull some advance out of the idle table but seriously wouldn't waste to much time with this, would be better if you can just make do till Joolz has a look, otherwise you will knock out your throttle sensor calibrations if you adjust the throttle stop too much, if I had the car I could sort it but its really not worth your trouble seeing as your getting it set-up anyways. I wasted 10 minutes looking on Tuner Studio, doh.......

I am no expert here but my experience is that there are a number of changes that don't translate into the newer version (I am running MS2 Extra). I am only writing this as it took me a while and lots of manual entry so treat this as a warning only and is perfectly possible to do.Also looks there's quite few differences in the settings for the latest version, so not sure If I would be able to load up the current tune file, or if I would need to set up a new project?
I believe I am running a 3.1 version now (will have to double check which one) but on this upgrade from a previous v3.x I had to redo MAT adjustment (I think - from memory the % change figure for MAT correction is dropped in favour of a table) as this has changed. Also I got a map oFf Neal when I bought his engine and this did not load with the v of firmware that came with my ECU (an earlier version of 3 I think v his version 2) and this was a case of manual input to copy across settings.
I can make my car go having undergone a steep learning curve and have only anecdotal experience here so don't take my word for it as it may be simpler if you have a larger brain than I. Flashing bit is easy so I would recomend getting hold of your old firmware version if poss to give a regession path.
My general rule of thumb on upgrades for All IT stuff is if it aint broke (and won't give any important new feature that will make a tangible difference) leave it Be - especially if it has been mapped by a guru already. But like I say I know st so please don't take my word for it.
