What did you do in the garage yesterday?

Changed the O/S high beam unit (Sp 6 style lights), which quickly turned into a refix the mounting ring exercise too.... congratulations to Hella for making the stiffest and most inflexible adjuster fittings I've ever seen the like of. Cheers guys, really enjoyed that; my hands should heal soon...
Uploaded a bit of a revised map with some best guess boost corrections, fixed weeping turbo oil feed , washed it (Snow Foam rawks), then went for a wee drive to christen and see what happens. Boringly uneventful thankfully... needs the base idle screw winding out a bit due to the revised breathing set up (no bleed through engine to plenum), and might possibly have seen a fleeting bit of boost (0.1 Bar - 1.45 psi, showing on gauge memory, which would match the 1.5psi wastegate spring currently installed). Oil and coolant temps/pressures all sensible; AFR quite reasonable, car cruises at 80 per with 0.5 Bar of vacuum showing which bodes well. Most interesting thing was the extent to which the pump running or not controls the chargecooler heatsoak. Without it running, air temps crept up to 40deg C and the unit was very warm to touch. A couple of miunutes of pump on and it was stone cold and air temps back to ambient (no boost going on but a good sign nonetheless). New instrumentation going to take a bit of tweaking/getting used to but working well

Well its that chasing numbers game we all seem to play on here.
Seriously seriously considered the forced induction route but have decided not to.
So going for a few more cc's instead. Have picked up a 5 litre bottom end and block which i will re build over the Winter. Top hat liners. Proper internal balance. I will then use the heads off my 4.3 once i have had new bigger seats put in to take some big valves.
Well thats the plan anyway.

Had Shaun over to map her on the way for an MOT on Tuesday - cannot recommend him enough, phone, remote and live mapping for very good price. Don't need to mess around with dual maps as he's put enough pops/bangs into this while but i'll still be getting about 25mpg+ on cruise at 70.
Runs brilliant now, well, did, then went onto bypass as it was running a bit lean at WOT (well it was wrong everywhere on the original map), 3rd gear high revs and then loud tappety type noise. Pulled over and couldn't open the bonnet, bloody cable was slack, struggled for a bit then started again and sounded normal so we gently made it to the MOT centre.
About 30 mins messing around with pry bars and hooks etc, couldn't get the latch undone so finally managed to force the bonnet forward enough to get the pin out. I took the bonnet off this weekend because rivets had come out of the front and there was too much play, if i hadn't done that, the bonnet would have moved easily enough. This car hates me.
Only failed the MOT on a few things, wiper blade park position, no washer fluid, but worryingly some loose bolts. The top ball joint bolts weren't quite long enough and didn't go into the nylon so they came loose - the MOT guy could shake the wheel about. crap. Didn't fail on emissions though
All this trouble in one day and i don't care, first time i've drove it in over year and half, sounds amazing, goes much quicker and the handling isn't harsh at all, thought it might be with 500/400 springs. retest on Wednesday after changing the pressure relief valve which was properly seized in place and i'll be getting as many miles as the weather allows afterwards. One very happy TVR owner at the moment even though she's still off the road

Did a wheel changing course yesterday.
Tim came over from Salopia, having selected the Chim 400 from his TVR portfolio.
1. Changed his road wheels at 0700 for my spare track set.
2. Set off in convoy with Phazed to Cadwell Park.
3. Arrived Cadwell Park 0820 - "they were catching a bit on the way over".
4. Sighting laps and first proper laps, me following Tim, smoke pouring off rear tyres.
5. Changed all the wheels on my car (Federal 595s) for all the wheels on Tim's (Toyo R888).
6. Brilliant track day, no dramas that didn't polish out .
7. Back to mine at 1800, changed Tim's car back to his road wheels, mine back to my 595s.
So that's 20 wheels off, 20 wheels on.
God bless the man who invented the battery powered impact driver And good teamwork from Tim. And me for having the foresight to take two trolley jacks to Cadwell. And Tim for stopping me putting the left hand front wheel off my car onto the right hand front of his. One of us needed to be awake, and it certainly wasn't me.
