Whipped off the bonnet and swapped out the old leaky rad for a nice new shiny alloy one

Old leaky one

Nice replacement from the good folks at Racetec. Top folks there, and will definitely get many more orders from methumbup

A really easy job on a later chim. Took about 20 mins to remove, but the install was a bit of a pain. Even with the more expensive rads, I still needed to trim the mounting lugs to clear the inner wings, and source new mounting screws for the fan mounting.

Other than that, a piece of cake. Sadly ran out of time to finally sort the under bonnet heat shields. Next week hopefully biggrin

PJ57, I know you probably will anyway, but don't forget to seal round the radiator to stop air bleeding round it instead of through it. Apologies if it's teaching you to suck eggs, only trying to help.

As engine never showed yesterday,.....

Stripped rear wishbones' and hubs.

Cleaned up rear area, wirebrushed and applied rust killer to patches.

Cut out all but 3 metalastic bushes.

None of those jobs were fun frown

Complete and assemble tomorrow.

Why an earth did TVR go to so much trouble nicely porting the heads to only ruin the good work by fitting badly fitting manifolds.

agree, time consuming I suppose but worthwhile as the turbulence that step creates makes the hole even smaller.

Phazed, I'm going to ask a stupid question but do you think the poly bushes are better? I was going towards standard but have read some old threads and now swaying towards poly. I seen a full set on sport motive for a pretty good price, does anyone know if these ones are ok

Looking good. Were those welds do on a DIY tig plant as thats some achievement. Did you get any peno? On the inside of the pipe?

Yes all done on a tig I bought a few months back. Still learning but so much easier with a foot pedal esp with alloy.

Pressure tested after and no leaks..

Polybushes may give a slightly less compliant ride.

On the plus side, they're a doddle to fit, AFTER you have cut out the old Metalastic bushes.

I have just fitted Superflex bushes. I fitted Polybushes to my old chim and that had done 40K on them without any problems.

Check out the Superflex site.

I don't know anything about welding other than when you see it done on TV but could you answer my probably stupid question.

How do you see what you are doing. The masks look like a piece of solid black glass that light can't pass through and once you start there seems to be so many sparks and ultra bright flares obscuring everything.

Typically this
