I have been lucky, no belt slip but of course I'm running the c30-94 and not the bigger c38 you have. I originally did have slip, but that was caused by a tiny ball of weld spatter that had deposited itself on the crest of one of the crank pulley grooves, about the size of a pin head, that went un noticed until I fitted the Canems and then noticed the belt damage! I know that you bought your 8 rib kit from John, I'm just about to finish restoring my lathe, so will hopefully be in a position to make my own if needed, fingers crossed.

Nigel, given Peter has beaten me to the heater rail delete info, have you clocked his rocker covers? Might be a help with your gasket sealing issue (look at them closely)...

I particularly like the core plug fitted where the distributor hole used to be instead of the bung I use (nice touch). I also like the 90 degree elbow water pipe fitting out of the inlet manifold, do you have any details for that item? What made you decide to go for the JE alternator mount and would you recommend it? I think if I fitted one of those mounts I would remove the unused alternator mounting position but I suppose doing that would prevent you from going back to the original arrangement if you ever wished to do so. What I do like about it is the increased belt coverage around the crank pulley.
If you take out the existing fitting from the manifold and go to a pipe/plumbers merchants, they should be able to match the thread then you can add whatever elbow you like.

JE bracket for neatness and simplicity.

I don't understand what you mean by, "removing the existing alternator mounting"?

Ah, that would be neater, (looks lovingly at the bench grinder smile).

Hi Richard,

I imported them from the Chezch Republic on this website..... http://www.uni-max.co.uk/hydraulic-ramp-platform-9...

Unfortunately I missed out on a group buy going back a while but decided I wanted a couple of sets so ordered them. Very good service, 7 days from order to turning up on my doorstep. Really easy to use as there's a foot pump for each set of ramps and they do have safety locks so you can work under the car safely.

Ha, my slave cylinder should arrive tomorrow too! I've just inspected the drivers footwell and found fluid there too though so looks like I must replace the master cylinder as well now (clutch).

Good news here is, although my clutch failed almost completely today, it failed on the way home from just receiving its fresh new TUV (MOT). Awesome timing!

Maybe someone should suggest another group buy, they look great. How high do they lift and can you lock them off at the top to make them safe to work under?
